A buddy and I went out striper fishing down here in Yuma a couple days ago. We ended up with 9 solid ones and let some of the smaller ones go. We also caught a 12lb limit of smallies. Fun time on the water.

I kept 5 of the fish and gave the meat away to my sister and a coworker. I promised my coworker striper meat in March but never got a chance to go out to catch any until this day. After my deer hunt, I am going to go target them again and hopefully get some more then help my buddy who has a sheep tag in 41E. I love that the weather is going to be in the 60's when my deer hunt starts. Finally some hunting weather.

Good luck! Hope you find a giant! Post up your results!

Man that’s a nice tall buck! Hope you are able to find him for your wife to shoot when her season comes up.

Finally got a solid photo of a mule deer buck and he was still in full velvet. Should be stripping any day now.
-
He was still in velvet and 3 other bucks we saw were also still in full velvet. Should be coming off any time. He was bedded down. He thought he was hidden so just froze.
-
Saw 4 bucks today and all 4 were full velvet.

He's a cool buck. He knows deer season is 2 weeks away and had no reason to run today.

Got a cool photo of this dude at about 50 yards…didn’t care that I was there.

AZ Strip trail cam ban impact..?. and other thoughts?
Yuma Outdoorsman replied to bigbuckclub's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
I mean, I don’t go out looking for the smallest buck I can find. I think shooting a big buck is pretty cool. But what I consider a “big buck” would probably be passed up by trophy hunters also so 🤷🏻♂️ -
Took my daughter out to look around last weekend. There was a good storm that made the washes run the afternoon before so no deer or deer tracks to be found. We found a couple coveys of quail and I shot 6. I could’ve shot more but the population is so poor this year I chose to let the rest be. Had I been solo I wouldn’t have shot any but my little girl wanted to eat a few for dinner. Speaking of eating, we cooked some hot dogs together over a fire for lunch and just enjoyed being in the desert together! I am so happy she enjoys the outdoors and I cherish our time out there, It just blows me away how fast our kids grow. hopefully, some of you have been out and finding some good bucks.

2022-2023 Quail Reports -- First Hikes
Yuma Outdoorsman replied to rcorley's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Very slim pickings down this way. I know several groups that spent the weekend in the desert and only 2 groups shot quail. No group shot more than 6 birds total. Hopefully all the rain the desert got late summer/fall helps the population in the spring. -
Man good on you for getting him out in the field! That’s a good friend! Congrats to Colter, great bull!
-
Heck ya! Awesome Video and congrats on a stud bull!

Success on his first youth deer hunt!
Yuma Outdoorsman replied to TR0UBLE SH00TER's topic in Youth Hunters
That's awesome! Congrats to you and your son! -
Has anybody been out scouting around for their upcoming hunts? It's been so hot down in Yuma up until this week that I haven't thought about hitting the desert yet. I might try to make a trip out this weekend but we will see. I would imagine most deer are bedded down before day light but it might be worth climbing a hill and doing a little glassing for a bit and hope to get lucky and catch a buck still moving around.

Awesome bulls right there!

Man big congrats to your son. What a thrill that must've been. That is amazing. What a bull.

Awesome photos! Looks like a blast.

These guys have been winning all sorts of tournaments there the last couple years. They won $300k last year and one of them won a boat valued as $150k. If you watch some of the videos, you can see that they used filleted walleye to help the fish “swallow” the weights. These guys have passed lie detector tests in the past but they also failed a test one time which led to them being DQ’d. A lot of the other anglers suspected they were cheating but had no proof. The kicker is, in that video, they had 30+lbs of fish and 2nd place only had 16. I read that had they not added weights, their limit would’ve still weighed more than the 16lbs. They essentially cheated for no reason in this tournament.

Wow, that does not seem like she handled that correctly. I hope you got some sort of reimbursement if you had paid for anything up front. That is terrible in itself, then to not be able to get the elk back is even worse. I hope you are able to recover it.

https://www.opticsplanet.com/vortex-diamondback-hd-15x56mm-binoculars.html I know he's wanting to stay under $300 but buying brand new for an extra $70 is better than used for a little cheaper in my opinion. Edit...Sorry, I just saw they are on backorder. https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/cabelas-intensity-hd-binoculars?ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=Cabelas|Shopping|Smart|Hunting|Hunting|NAud|TopPerf|NMT&gclid=CjwKCAjwhNWZBhB_EiwAPzlhNmBhVy-xx9ER-Id9ff-aUOQ2kk2dY_NozCfhIHvO34bkdKHVygalbRoCQacQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds These might work.
