Javelina have migrated here on their own though. Audads are from a completely different part of the world separated by oceans.

I've hunted with one guy that would say something really loud to me like LOOK AT THOSE BUCKS, then take a shot at them while they are running away! Let's just say, not all bow hunters use common sense.

mechanical broadheads success and failures
Havasuhunter replied to creed_az_88's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I've used expandable on deer and they worked great. A very experienced outfitter friend of mine swears by rage. Even with all that, I just feel more comfortable with a fixed blade. Legal in every state. No extra moving parts. No worrying about making sure your broad heads are set for the shot, etc. that's just me though. Simpler the better. -
Sorry you lost them. Thieves suck. I'm not a big fan of anything being left out in the woods, but cameras that are checked often aren't too bad.

Nice. I've considered the T3 light for my next purchase. Sounds like a perfect AZ big game rifle.

Those are antlered chupacabras I believe. :-). I look forward to the serious replies. Should be interesting.

Innocent children?
Havasuhunter replied to COONHUNTER303's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Admitted members of MS 13 should be deported to the middle of Death Valley in summer with no water. They are the lowest form of human being on the planet. Zero regard for anyone except other members of their gang. To think our tax dollars may be used to help them come here to kill us, is sickening. -
+1 for 3.5s being over rated. 3" turkey loads and steel always patterned better than 3.5" of the same brand in my benelli SBE 2

That's a tough Bull snake. Surprised he got the better of the Hawk, usually the other way around.

I know guys that have used a helicopter and small fixed wings for scouting. Not sure how I feel about it, but if it's legal and you have the cash might be interesting. Rotary is much more expensive than fixed wing. Find some one with a small high wing that can fly nice and slow. I'm definitely against the use of aircraft during the season. More than once I've had some a-hole come buzzing over us and a herd several times while we were putting on a stalk. Not sure if they were antis, just curious, pot growers, or other hunters, but it sucked.

I have a RMEF browning x bolt Carbon fiber stock in 338 win mag for sale. First decent offer takes it. I also have ammo to sell. Gun is never fired, won it at a Banquet.- 27 replies

I have never shot a 270 WSM, but several 300 WSMs and 300 WMs. I've never found any 300 mag hard to shoot or intimidating. Can't imagine the 270WSM doesn't recoil less with the lighter bullets? I am currently looking for a new all weather rifle and am debating between a good old 270 win or a 270 WSM. Not worried about recoil, I just want a flat, easy to reload cartridge and I like bullets in the 270-7mm range for all around big game hunting. Obviously some of my buddies feel their 300 mags are intimidating because I always seem to have to sight them in for them off the bench! Hope you find a good one. Seems like a 270 WSM would be hard to beat as an all around choice. Heard most love the 140 accubonds too.

I'm pretty sure that any other state safety course is creditable to Az. Call G+F and ask. I'll add it to my already long list of things I need to ask at the game and fish office. Going in a week to register my new boat, pick up lion tag, etc, etc. thanks -
This is on my list of destinations. Definitely will be planning a trip down there.
-
I'll take both please. A truly nice mulie is my dream hunt right now, but then again I'm just happy to be hunting anything.

How often do they do the hunters ed field day there? I need to finish mine up. I've had a hunters ed card since I was 13 but haven't completed the AZ one for my points. Beautiful snake. Glad no-one killed it. I've never understood that kill every snake you see mentality that some people have. -
Jackson Hole Wyoming Pics 1
Havasuhunter replied to Jay Scott's topic in Jay Scott Outdoors/Colburn and Scott Outfitters
Beautiful. I work in WY and UT, it's amazing up here in summer and fall. You can have winter though. The resolution of those pictures is simply amazing. Thanks for sharing. -
Drop it over the rail that is, not over the tail, though that may work as well?
-
There are times you need your bait far from the boat though. Whether you cast or drop it over the tail, a good hot bait that swims away from the boat is key. I've heard the bait has been pretty beat up lately, I'm sure hoping for some healthy dines. Two eyes and a wiggle chovies or half dead sardines definitely makes it tougher.
-
Try not to warp my limbs in the scorching hot truck. I'll be in Prescott area for a class during the opener, so probably do some scouting with the bow in open zones. Still not sure where I'm going to hunt in Dec. Going to use the Aug hunt to hopefully make the decision.
-
For flatheads I like hand sized bluegill or 6-12" baby carp if I can get them. Tilapia are great too where legal. Keeping the bait good and lively is key for flatheads. I caught a little one about 7 lbs and a 20lber down by yuma a couple weeks back.

I'm heading out on Aug 1st on the El Capitan with several guys. It's a 2 day trip. I'm bringing 20,30, and 40lb outfits for everyone. I've got some rookies, hopefully it will be good. With a little practice you can cast a 6" sardine fairly well, even on 40. Just hope I can teach the new guys how so we are not re-spooling reels the whole trip. :-) I'll report back after the trip.
