I have a friend that lives right up near the Idaho, Montana, Canada border. Awesome country up there. UT is tough, but you can apply every year for a zone and go hunt spikes to learn the zone until you draw. I have friends living all over the area of UT from Price up to Vernal. I've seen monster Bulls just going to and from work. Easier draw than AZ, but it's still going to take a while and plenty of research.

Beast. Take that deer any day.

The Burros are everywhere now, that's for sure. Usually the first thing I glass in parts of 16a. They also are running around town here in Havasu. Near animals, just wish I could find deer and Javelina as easy. I didn't see any in 18b, but track and burro crap everywhere. Of course I was bear Burro Creek, go figure.

Well, my archery javelina hunt is done. I have a severe flu and can hardly even walk outside right now. Have to get one on the HAM hunt.

Well, only got two days in because of work. Hoping to get out Fri and Sat, will be my last chance to get an archery Javelina this year. I'm looking for general info on 18B if anyone has some. By "general" I mean exact GPS coordinates of all your hotspots and specific herd locations!😉 Good luck all of you still holding a tag. Javelina country in Jan is hard to beat all by itself, seeing some would be a nice bonus.

Montana sucks IMO for the general tag. You can easily kill a cow, but Bulls are hard to comeby. Plus it's mega expensive. I'd imagine WY and ID are better bets.

You can buy as many leftover tags as you want. You just can't harvest more than 2. Right now I have a 22 archery, 16A HAM, and a 16A Rifle in my wallet. If the lady at the desk challenges you, have her call Phoenix and they will straighten her out. That's good to know. I woke up really sick this morning, so I'm hoping I can go at all. Unless I'm really feeling bad, going to try to get out for at least a little while.

Thanks again.

Jim, I would do that but I have the 16a HAM hunt for my second tag already. Next year? I'd really enjoy having someone to go with. Most people o hunt eith are from out of state or fish Bass tourneyments so much they never hunt.

Thanks, I may check that out. If your in Havasu sometime and want to catch some fish, let me know. I travel for work but fish or hunt whenever home.

I guess I should have put 5 choices. I just put the first 2 for elk and pronghorn. I'll put all 5 down in the future.

The longer bullet will have the higher BC. More bearing surface can reduce the speed you can launch it at. Long buckets with too little bearing surface can be tougher to tune and get desired accuracy and stability but have the most long range potential. I'm a 600 yard max guy, so I'm not going to get as deep into all that as some of these guys, but it's all an interesting read.

Im still researching for buying some new 10x42s. Anyone use these or have an opinion on them? They seem to be good glass in the $500 range im looking at. I'm trying to get to multiple stores and look at different glass, then order some from Cabelas since I have points to buy them. I havent been able to look through these yet and they are high on my list of considerations.

Cabeleas carrys the MeoPros as Meoptas, not the rebranded cabelas ones. Thanks for the info. The very few reviews I've read say the MeoPros are a lot of Bino for the money.

I'm with you. I have trouble finding Javelina when I'm looking for them. AKA archery season. When I'm not looking for them they seem to be as common as Jackrabbits. I did pass on one last year at 40 yards right at dark. Sure I would have killed it, but didn't want to risk looking for it in the heavy brush in the dark. Hopefully passing helped my Karma, Im sure your streak will end soon. Very nice deer. Good luck out there.

Great job. Sounds like the perfect morning.

Ha! Paper patching. Haven't you seen the movie shooter?😀

For what it's worth, Wellers Wildlife Studio did my Coues and the work looks amazing to me compared to other mounts I've seen. I'd definitely recommend them for anyone in the future.

So, 308? Wait, what's this post about?

SST in the 6.5 is deadly from 300-500 yards. A little explosive closer but everything I've shot with them died quickly.

A lot of Taxidermists get greedy and take on way more work than they can handle leading to this sort of thing. I had the same problem in TN with a whitetail. Took a year to get back and was rushed at the last minute. I was told 3-5 months. At least the mount came back fairly decent. He ruined the cape I dropped off, but getting another eastern Whitetail cape was pretty easy.

What a beautiful animal. Congratulations.

what tag was that? story time? For Coues several years back. I hunted with Duwane Adams and had the pleasure of meeting his son Luke and several other guides. I didn't have a lot of time and was going through a divorce. They worked hard and made it an awesome experience. I killed the coues in my Avatar. I had Wellers do the mount. Awesome quality. The tag was through the AZ super raffle. When they called my to say I was drawn, I thought one of my buddies was playing a practical joke on me.

I've always found bears very tough to find. I may try to get one in CA this year, a lot more of them over there. I've never seen one in AZ, but haven't been in the zones that have the bigger numbers much. They seem to be very nocturnal and love the thickest stuff possible. Look for deep thick canyons that definitely have water. I'm no expert, but bears don't like to be far from heavy cover or water.

Very nice. I'm jealous!
