We are eating Pronghorn that has been properly cleaned and cooled rapidly, being very careful to not get dirt or fluids on the meat. It's very good when that happens. I hear people say how bad it is in WY, UT and MT all the time. It is a meat that spoils rapidly and is hinted in hot temps so has to be dealt with quick. Deer is much more tolerant of slower cooling,

Such a shame what shed hunting as come to

When it comes to 4 wheeler use for all uses, I'd say there are unfortunately a very large number lazy slobs that just don't give a crap about tge laws and their ethics. They bought a 30k machine and they're going to go wherever the heck they want . There is a mentality that they won't get caught in roadless areas, I've seen it very blatantly. The other issue specific to shed hunying that I never really thought of until now, because I don't do it is the harassment of game. Not sure how bad it is, but several people have mention chasing the herds around. That just plain sucks if that's the case. I'm not fundamentally against shed hunting myself, it just happens during prime fishing time. I will pick up a shed here and there during summer scouting or fall hunting though few make it that far anymore. -

Those are sweet. -
That'd have to be the worst way to die. Great for child molesters and hardcore gang members.

I was joking about the impatience many are exhibiting when asking what seasons start next month. Even if the good people at AZ game and fish delay this another two weeks, everyone will have plenty of time to scout, put in for time off, etc. Listening to some of these guys talk about the draw, conspiracy, etc is about is painful as watching the Jerry Springer show. So, yes I was F#%^^ing with you all and making fun of you at the same time. But, seriously, my card was hit by AZ Game and fish when I bought my new hunting and fishing combo license yesterday. I will be glad to know that I was once again not drawn for anything, but I know they are doing the best they can and we will find out soon enough.

I have a few very special Cholla Cactus patches lined up for people that would do this sort of thing.

I bought my new hunting/fishing combo license, so my card was actually hit by AZ game and fish.

My card was just hit.

I'm very surprised that shed hunting isn't already more restricted. For one, the kind of stupidity discussed in this thread and two, the fact that there are actually animals in the Eco system that rely on them for minerals. I'm sure I'll get called a hippy or some stupid shoot for pointing that out, but it is fact. Not sure if enough are removed to affect anything, but you can bet it will be studied more as shed hunting gets more and more ridiculous. -
Which zones have the hunts starting next month? I know it sucks to wait, but the results will be out soon enough.

Dream hunt. Thanks for sharing.

Worthless people. Hope Karma gets them soon.

Some of the best game meat I've had is Mule deer as well, but elk and antelope is better. White tails in the middle, with the two Coues bucks I've killed being as good as eastern whitetail does, but all whitetail is pretty decent. Worst game meat I've had was a gut shot Mule deer my buddy got. We could barely choke it down even with plenty of beer after hiking all day Elk hunting. I love deer, but that thing was just foul! It was also an old buck on the decline. Feral pig is decent, but one we killed must have had some meat touched with unclean hands, because even the back straps were pretty Musky tasting. All that being said, I'll never turn down a piece of Game meat from anything if it's properly cared for. I even like doves and pigeons.

You guys eat the Buffalo. I've been told theyre good, but never tried. We'd catch them in TN up to 40lbs or so.

Bloody decks! Love it.

I was blown away by the first Pronghorn meat I had. Just incredible. I was assuming big game was part of the original question. If birds and small game are included I'd have to say Pheasant, squirrels and jack rabbit is pretty good too.

Very nice. Been wanting to run over to Alamo, but it's monster redear time at Havasu when I get back home. Stuck fishing in Bakersfield for the week.

Can anybody point me to some rabbits?

PM me if you are willing to travel a bit. I know some areas that are loaded with Jacks and quite a few cottontails. Great for the kids. -

Totally ignorant. Sad that people like that will eventually ruin everything. No respect at all. Will lead to more regs, more closures, etc. Lazy, greedy SOBs. -
Pronghorn is the best Ive had with cow elk second.

Thanks again AG&F

Totally agree. Its theme that you run into a lot in hunting. A lot of people think that "outsiders" are going to ruin "their" little area. When in reality, as long as a person is a Legal Hunter, properly licensed, there are no outsiders. To think game and fish commissions have no right to publish information about the species they manage or a private magazine has no right is just crazy. -
Couple quick ones. On a cow hunt. Had 7 bulls working down a tree line wind at there backs toward me. Spotted them we'll over 400 yards out. All 7 ended up walking less than 10 yards from me and one spike nearly stepped on me, I was seriously fearful for my life. They finally smelled me and went insane running in all directions eventually heading back where they came from. I was hoping they'd go around me so I wouldn't spook the whole area, but that's how it goes. To watch them come right to me from distance was really cool. On my buddies Tule Elk bull hunt in norcal we had a lot of crazy experiences, the best was probably a spike that walked right up to the tree I was standing against and stuck his nose nearly on me. I could feel his breathe! This was the first hunt that herd was legally hunted, so they were generally not spooky at all, but the big Bulls were smarter than we thought they'd be, but pretty dang easy compared to most elk hunts. I looked over 20+ bulls for 5 days and he killed a nice 7x7 with good Palmation. Hope I draw my Tule bull tag someday.

Vaquero outfitters charged with chasing antelope
Havasuhunter replied to Explorer's topic in Antelope Hunting
Too bad people like this will never go to "real" prison because it's what they deserve. To steal from other legal hunters in the name of money is as far from what is the "right" way to treat a public resource as you can get. If natural movements or migration puts the game on their property, that's one thing. Anything else is BS! -
Vaquero outfitters..... Ouch that'll leave a mark
Havasuhunter replied to joelpresmyk8's topic in The Campfire
This is far from an isolated incident. I've had a guide chasing antelope in a tricked out Bronco and s small single engine plane chase a antelope herd on the same hunt within a few days of each other! The only good thing was while the asshole flew buy us in the Bronco, his license plate fell off and we happened to pick it up! We turned it in to DFG to deal with. This was in Northern CA which is a tougher draw than even AZ. Just totally ridiculous what people think they can get away with.
