2nd person with the Oryx CW., I would really love to try this meat. I need to get shot in the a$$ with gold first to afford that hunt. Thanks for the input tho.
-
I really guess it depends on the care of the animal in the field and the way it has been prepared for dining. I have eaten animals that were killed on the same hunts and times I have and their meats have def. had a distinct game taste.
-
Agree on the desert muleys. Some can get pretty saging tasting. I have had some that are excellent tho & I'm sure you have too.
-
Well Matdady, you are the exception to the rule. 3 tags in 21 years is AWESOME!! I am an AZ native since 1956 and didn't get my first and only tag for 30 years. Rub some luck on us PLEASE???? Nice goat by the way.

Totally a D-bag from what I have experienced. The day I was watching this herd of elk one of his workers drove up and told me about ever set foot on his property. You WILL be Prosecuted he said. I asked him if I was on his land. He said no. I said conversation is over and he left. -

Even a private party would have to have a gnf license an permit. I understand that but they are friends or family he knows and are paying HUGE $$$ to hunt his property. He gut shot these elk in PV because they were competeing with his cattle for graze. I was told he hated the elk and thats why he did it. He was quoted saying that G&F did nothing to help him and his cattle were going hungry. Those elk were there LONG before he leased that land I say. The other fact about this, He gets hunt tags for his own property from G&F. Kinda of BS if you ask me. You get busted before and the G&F still helping him make $$$ Land owner tags in AZ? Don't think so. Maybe he's feeding you guys some bull. I stand corrected. I researched the landowner tags and AZ is NOT a state that gives them. You are right about the guy feeding me a line of BS. Sorry for any confusion. I do know that the guy I am talking about was the one prosecuted for shooting the elk in PV. and now lives up in unit 10. I only wish I had a camera when I was there to show the Elk herd that lives on his land. -
Hey 5guys. The green chili is cooking as we speak. From what I am reading, next weekend we will have a nice, hot meal. SWEET!! Can't wait.

I can't wait to see how this goes. Everyone including myself have called these wonderful critters, PIGS, HOGS or RATS for many years. I have hunted them since 1984 and have enjoyed the spot and stalk with a bow or the possible WOW!! there they are suprise. I do however hope you all know they are not PIGS or RATS or HOGS by any means. They are Collard Peccary. I have harvested 6 in my liftime with 3 being arrowed, 1 handgun, and 2 rifle. Since G&F made them a draw I have really got soured on hunting them. With it being so hard to draw a tag for other big game I always looked forward to BUYING a Javelina tag and go archery hunting them. Then came the DRAW. It has been one of the best hunts you can do. They are very wiley and see and hear better than most people realize. With that being said, The only reason for this post is to educate any younger hunters as to the real genus of the animal they are hunting. Call them what you want my friends, I know I will. They are still a blast to watch, hunt and eat.

I seem to think they hired the same programers that set up the Obamacare website.

One thing we must all realize. We already have hundreds of thousands of laws in this country. the problem is they are not enforced like they should be. So what happens? The lawmakers pass another bill and adopt another law that won't be enforced either. So on...and so on...and so on... -
Why not just shoot a .338. That's all a 7mickey mouse is. Just necked down. I agree it will shoot flater in 7mm than 338 but you can hunt grizz with a 338.

That looks familure. I know I have seen that girl on that poster somewhere.

It amazes me that some people here are without a doubt the coldest and most cruel humans (if they are human) I have ever seen. If this was a friend or family member I am curious what you would say about their passing.

This seems typical for AZGFD. I was told many years ago that some of the people that input the info about draws for AZGFD were convicts at a prison. Anyone ever hear this as well? If so then I REALLY don't trust AZGFD.

I think the first mount might have been better if he had dilated the eys bigger. You truly did an amazing turn around tho. cudos

What round are you shooting Norteno? I have never owned a .270wsm until now and this seemed ultra flat. That was my point of this thread. I do agree that this rifle is my number 1 favorite now. From all the research I have done on the short mag rifle out, the .270 beats them all. Jack O'Connor made the .270 one of the best rounds there is. he havested every animal in North America with it. Now they have it in a MAG? I am tickled sh*tless. By the way. The deer in my picture was shot at 380 yards with a silver tip reload of my own out of my .270win.

If you have witnessed this seldom, remember, The pen is mightier than the sword. Report it together with wyguy. Knowledge is power and ther's power in numbers. United we stand. I know of a case when i was working for Sitgreaves in heber where a group of homeowners made them fix the road. It CAN and does happen.
-
I can understand to a point what wyguy is saying. IF, and only IF they don't repair the roads then you have a legitimate gripe. Make your phone call then, go protest, march or do what you think is right to have them held accountable. Like I said in my earlier post. They should be fined and pay the bill for having it restored. They have a job to do. If you have been on the forest road that goes by Woods Canyon lake to Bear Canyon lake and see the loggers driving this road, you would know why they may close it or any others. They haul one of the worst loads possible in some of the most unpredictable places on roads that are slippery, wet, dusty. I wouldn't want to be around them in those types of circumstances. You did however state that your itsy, bitsy ford ranger would cause minimal damage. I repeat, DAMAGE IS DAMAGE. Are you going to go back and fix it?

Yes AZ. 2012..unit 18a..I didnt tell you all the part about the record booker I missed 2 times the day before at about the same yardage. Held over him a little to much. I was by myself that day. One of the gentlemen helping me the next day witnessed my failure the previous day. My range finder only went to 400 yards and I couldn't get a fix on him. He said he had been watching the buck I missed for a week and that he def. would make the book. He was a retired guide out of Safford. I will never hunt by myself again. Thanks to those 2 guys for helping me the next day fill a long awaited tag.

OK..this just got a little weird.
