Flatlander, If you are referring to my son then keep in mind, First hunt ever in his life, He is terminally ill, and shooting a rifle that he had only helped sight in 6 times. A little buck fever? Yes! Without a doubt. You must not have children. And if you do I hope they are healthy.

Put my step-son in for JR hunt in 5b about 18 years ago and he gets a tag. Mind you he has Cystic Fibrosis and never let it slow him down a bit. Opening morning I find a nice meadow and wait for sunrise. Finally we can see and hunt legally and sure enough i find a nice herd of cows feeding away from us directly into the sun and feed out of sight. CANT SEE he says. It's OK, we will find them. Follow this herd for a long ways to a huge dry lake bed. All the cows are on the opposite side except 1 big cow 250yrds from us. Take her I said. He shoots, he shoots, he shoots, he shoots, he shoots, Reloads, he shoots, he shoots, he shoots, he shoots, he shoots, reloads, he shoots, he shoots, he shoots, he shoots.....A HIT.. 14 shots...I am not lying. I have 1 shell left for him and she is still got a little life, He walks up 25yrds and shoots............HE missed her again we are out of ammo. 2 other fathers with their children hunters were watching about 100yrds away and loaned him their 30.06 and he finally put her down. I was so far from my truck I thought this will take forever. He only weighs about 100 pounds so this is gonna take a while packing. The other 2 fathers and their children hunters kill another cow out of the herd and told me..The will bring their truck over, drive us over to ours and life is good. I couldn't thank these fine hunters enough. They said it was worth it for watching him finally get that elk. Proudest day of mine and my sons life. Next time I'm bringing the whole box of shells.

I have eaten a lot of different game meats in my 58 years. Everything from snakes to armadillo in Texas, to rabbits and javelina in AZ. I finally harvested my first Antelope in 2012. My wife who can be pretty picky about what she eats as far as game meat, tasted some of the Antelope steakes I had prepared. I had eaten it only 1 time before many years ago and thought it was just OK. Moose had really been my favaorite until then with a juicy Elk steak being second. I will say without a doubt now that that Antelope is my number 1 favorite. She even went out of her way to say, and I quote, "I hope you get another tag for them. That was awesome" Just wondering what ya'lls favorite may be. Thanks

Right there with ya AZkiller....took me 23 years for my first 3 years ago and now i'm 58...don think I will ever see another one here in AZ before i'm dust..Maybe WY

You are correct Bull

6.73 million as of 2014 and NOOO not all of them put in for tags. There are a also a lot of out of state put ins as well. I was told several years ago by Wes Keyes who did some work with AZGFD and told me that the odds of getting drawn for a premium bull tag are 1 in 25 years and 1 in 7 years for cow. Not good odds I think. For the lucky ones that got a tag.................................. KEEP A SHARP EYE OUT.

Does it have a generator? I didnt see that in the post so i assume not.

Just curious. You said you bought this in July of 2013 but were hunting with it in 2012. Just asking -
My card showed "Government & Fire Services. It was for $135 so I know it's for elk.
-
Congrats..Hope is still there ya'll
-
With what topic? You didn't get drawn or you did?
-
Had friend in Colo cut his hand wide open gutting an elk that had a broadhead still in him. He was rifle hunting. Arrow was a good shot too. They are a lot tougher than we think sometimes. TAKE THE SECOND SHOT and ease his pain.

THERE"S STILL HOPE???? Yippppeeeee

In 1 aspect I have to say I agree with Bill. When I went to the hunter education class..many many many years ago because I was going to Colo. to hunt, The teacher asked the people their how many are there with their significant others just to put in another tag in hopes of being drawn? Half the class raised there hands then laughed sheepishly. This really bugged me. Hadn't had a tag for several years then and that told me my odds just went down. When their significant others were asked if they would shoot a deer or elk, they said NO!!! What does that say about morals of some hunters? They don't care about others. They just want a tag and the odds for people like us getting drawn increase dramatically. Wonder how many people out there now do the same thing? IMO it Must be in the hundreds. If having to pay the full amount up front I truly believe this would reduce the number of tags applied for. Isn't that what we all want anyway? A better chance of getting a hard to get tag in AZ.... just saying...
