I'm not mad at all. I am stating my opinion and beliefs about how I was raised without the fact that my family from SW Louisiana & SE Texas never poached and they were dirt poor as well. They lived off the land as well at times by raising their own animals or eating armadillo's or turtles or catching fish from canals and that didn't require a license or tag. They worked hard at whatever they could do so they didn't have to break the law. My grandfather was a deputy sheriff in Cameron, LA and used to arrest poaches in the early 40s and 50s and that's how I was raised. The original post I agree was some drunk talking crap. But when others try to justify people they know shooting animals out of season that they have been witness to, I find offensive as well as illegal. BTW..Armadillo is great bar-b-qued.

Why would they make this so visible if it was a pot operation.

IDGAF. Again you have made this personal with your smart a$$ comment to me. I have tried to stick the facts and not call names which you certainly aren't mature enough to do without. Live your life how you want, associate with who you want. Admire who you want. Maybe write a book or make a movie about your great friend who shot all these elk, legal or not. Hope it's a best seller. Maybe you can play his little sidekick learning how to hunt. But don't try to convince me that what he or any of these people did is right.

Oh..Sorry. Didn't know it was already posted. I guess I forgot to tell you I have Alzheimer's. -
Gentlemen, Get the popcorn because I am going to pick a fight. Murphy your comments are rude and asinine. You can have a difference of opinion without getting slanderous. She said her only experience was with young man feeding his family. I have known several people that have taken game out of season for a better reason than taking a trophy. One was an older gentleman many years my senior who shot 76 elk in his lifetime some with tags some without. None of the meat went to waste and him growing up on the west slope of Colorado in cattle country never taking the breeding stock. He never shot a cow, calf, spike, or bull above 5 points. Another one is my brother in law who grew up very poor. Simple if they did not have game meat they did not eat. Yet another one an apache friend of mine, had a tag for a cow or calf. I was with him on the reservation when we came up to a spike (not legal that year for the tag he had) he shot it. I said you just shot a spike and he goes "look it was sucking his mother's t_t" This practice is socially accepted on the Rez. Murphy, I find most of your comments self righteous and of little value. I enjoy nature girls post because it reminds me of the journey as a hunter I started many years ago. I do not condone hunting out of season for any reason, but in some cases it is understandable. It is against the law to take game out of season, but isn't a greater crime for an impoverished family to starve. The only thing I guess I can say about your comment is.....IDGAF what YOU think of my post. It's nice to know that you and her know all these people that poach and post on a hunting community that is here to do what we love which is hunting and do it legally. You don't condone it but it's OK in some cases. Wrong is wrong. illegal is illegal. What part of that don't you understand? I said IF there is NO other way to feed your family then do what you must. That's a big IF. Does it matter if your friend shot an animal that wasn't a trophy or a calf suckin' on a teet? Yes. He had a tag and decided to shoot an animal that wasn't legal excepted on his rez or not. Does it matter that your friend shot 76 elk in his lifetime some with tags and some without? Yes. Why didn't he just shoot a beef cow the times he didn't PAY for a tag? As far as naturegirl. I enjoy her pictures. She however did state that she had all these people telling her they shoot 4 animals a year. Doesn't sound like ONE experience to me. So again I say, IDGAF what you think. This is what I think. I believe there are more people here that think this way as well. I'm done with my popcorn. Are you?

When I worked cattle before on Eagle Creek we have found calves still alive that were being fed on by coyotes and then later the wolves they released on Eagle creek would take down cattle and begin to eat them before they died. That's why I get a little angry when I see this.

A little history lesson DiamondbackAZ, Since recorded human history of human warfare, there have been 1,763 wars of which 123 have been classified as religious in nature. Atheists believe that most wars have been over religion. Only 7% have been. An interesting note that YOU need to be aware of is, out of the 123 of these wars, 66 have involved ISlAM. THEIR religion didn't even exist for the first 3000 years of recorded human warfare. That's over 50%!!!!!!!!!!!! The United states have been in 17 wars or conflicts and out of ALL of those only 1, I repeat 1 involves religion and it's the one we are fighting now and that is the war on terrorism. Guess who else is involved with this war??? any guesses????????? HUH??? ISLAM!!!!!!! You really need to grow a set stand up for your country. Might want to do some reading as well.

That's exactly why I shoot them every chance I get.

No. I have always used Capt. Buzz on the Prowler out of Point Loma. -
Show us some pics if these big colorado bulls you've been killing murph. Why don't you show us pics of your little rag horns you're so happy to shoot.Honestly. Show me a pic of a 300" bull you took out of Colorado if there's so many big bulls in there. I don't know what your problem is. I never said I killed a 300+ bull there. I have hunted Colorado for many years for mule deer and I have seen numerous bulls 300 or better. You telling someone to soot the first bull they see is ridiculous. Why do you think you have the right to tell someone how to hunt. That statement shows your immaturity and lack of knowledge of Colorado. "Sometimes it's better to be quiet and thought a fool...than open your mouth and remove all doubt". This post wasn't for you to dictate how someone should hunt. It was to help someone get the right muzzle loader to hunt with. "My self and my family have tc encores. They really shoot well. They come with fiber optic sights, but a peep sight is better through my eyes. Look into power belt bullets. They aren't the best bullet out there when you compare em to sabots, but the are legal in CO. It's either that or the old school Great Plains bullets. Also there's no pellets allowed so you need to use loose powder. I would strongly suggest blackhorn 209 as it is far superior to pyrodex (garbage IMO). It's a fun hunt, if you're drawing a unit that takes less then 10 pts to draw, shoot the first legal bull you see. Colorado is not a trophy state, even the best units in co (that take 15-20 pts) don't have the quality of bulls that even the worst AZ unit does. It's still a fun hunt, the raghorns think they're herd bulls (cuz they are) and bugle their tails off. Just don't expect a big one, if you shoot a 6pt you are in the top 1% of bulls that come out of there. My dad hunted the same muzzleloader unit for 15 years in co, they took 5 guys a year and shot atleast 4 bulls a year (they took 60 some bulls out of there over the years) and the largest one was a 260 5 pt. Have fun, enjoy the fact that you get to chase bugling bulls with a firearm and smoke one!" This was my comment about the Colorado bulls. I don't see how that qualifies as a bad comment. The OP was looking for advice on Colorado legal muzzleloaders and Colorado muzzleloader elk hunts. I happen to have first hand experience with both. I appologize for causing Murph's little outburst. The majority of your comment was informative. But you telling someone how to hunt and what to shoot shows you lack of grey matter. My so called "out burst" was directed at that. How you hunt is not how everyone else should.

I repeat again. You really have issues little man. Didn't mommy hold you enough? If BS was music you'd be a brass band. -
Well Naturegirl, I see you have done it again. You are in a "Mental Gunfight" and you are shooting blanks. First of all you state the young man was feeding his family. IF and only IF they had no other way to get food then I say do what you must. But because the lazy a$$ mother wouldn't work. and you stated she could, then you have no dog in this fight with your comment. Wrong is wrong. Second, you state that you have ALL these people tell you they are killing 4 animals a year and they are just a hopeless case. Have you contacted the authorities and given them this info? Why do you associate or know these people, (poachers)? Have you ever tried to explain your views to them and tell them the harm they are doing? If it was me I would be doing whatever it takes to see these "Idiots" brought to justice. "Sometimes it's better to be quiet and thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt"....Abraham Lincoln

This is a mute point. However Nikon doesn't have an "Unconditional, No questions asked, Lifetime Warranty. They have a "Limited Lifetime Warranty" and I have had to pay for a repair before. My whole post was to get views on scopes and I still appreciate the different comments from all of you. I am extremely happy with my Vortex as I can now see a target at 500 yards with a more powerful magnification. I do own a Nikon Monarch that is on my .270 wsm and I love it. Thanks again all.

If you are talking about "Pete's Place", Yes there has Bob. I saw a great magic act there once. Made things disappear never to be seen again.

Harbor Freight has a small, med, and large solar charger that work pretty good. no too expensive. I use it to keep my camper batteries charged and they did fine.

With that bad shoulder Bob I sure hope you don't have to sign that tag over to someone........
