Better. BUT...no draw is going to make everyone happy all the time. Even in a perfect system, those who get left out aren't happy, right?
-
That's only if you don't die from an STD first. Today's antibiotics might keep you around a bit longer, however. 🤣

I think no one under 50 should be allowed to hunt the primo seasons.
-
Imperfect? How can that be when what you described is exactly how the system is supposed to work? That's the whole idea of the bonus pass and then the RANDOM pass that gives everyone a shot, as DESIGNED. Sounds quite perfect to me. 😉

That stuck truck reminds me of an incident I had in the mid-1970s. I was driving on what was basically a DRY dirt road during the cold of winter. Came upon a spot that looked to be a frozen puddle about 20' wide. I was driving a 1/2-ton 4x4 PU with a heavy duty Warn winch on the front bumper. So I start to drive across the ice and all four wheels break through. The puddle had been about 10-12 inches deep, so the ice, which was about 1 1/2" thick came about 1/2 way up each tire. No amount of effort would move the truck; it was like driving against a 6' thick concrete wall. So I get out, unwind some winch cable and wrap it around a very large ponderosa tree. Then I got back in the truck and tried driving and winching at the same time, using the remote for the winch . All it did was break a bit of ice, then bog down again. I finally gave up and walked a mile back to a farmer friend for help. He brought his front-end loader, and we set the shovel under the trailer hitch so we could lift the rear of the truck just high enough so most of the rear tires were above ice level. It worked like a charm when we pulled it out backwards that way. Otherwise, I would have been in that hole till the ice melted.

Agreed. But the whole "government shutdown" is a sham. Since employees are getting paid regardless, there's absolutely no reason to shut anything down., and I say that with a daughter who is a federal worker. Geez, when this all started, she actually was one day into her vacation. So now, not only did she not work and will still get paid, but they will have to rebate her vacation days. If they're getting paid for all those hours, they should be required to work. And she didn't need to go on food stamps because she has saved money over the years, and trust me, even with saving she lives well -- Nice house, plenty of nice clothes and drives a new Lexus every two years.
-
Really? Without pay or without getting paid until later. Big difference, no? 😉

That's how it has been for many years. It's been about three years since I ventured into Mex. so perhaps it's changed now.

Oh, thanks. Shows how long ago I was there. I wonder if Al Jr. retired?

Not sure if they still sell them, but DelRe's on south Central might have some. Just be prepared to take out a second mortgage. 🤑

If you're using the Mariposa crossing, there's a gas station on the left side with a small strip mall to the right. They usually give a pretty decent exchange rate right at the cashier's counter. In another thread on here I put the mileages to various points after you get off the I-19 exit ramp. Try a search on Performance Fuel.

Bingo! We have a winner.

Problem solved. I just searched for the head and here is what it looks like up close and personal. Note the cutout in the edge (where it says 38 mmm ball) that allows the mounting plate to turn 90 degs.
-
Some heads like that have a slot on the edge for the post of the mounting plate so it's possible to turn the mounting plate where it makes a 90 deg. angle with the head itself.

The obvious question is why is it archery only? Could it be that the landowner requested that status in return for allowing hunting on it? If so, it would seem that would also apply to predators.

I believe Amanda has a PayPal account. All you need to do is go there and use the SEND money link. All you need is the email she uses on PP. You don't have to have an actual account, just a CC. Be aware that PP takes a small percentage (maybe like 3%), so she won't get all of the amount you send.

Maybe that was in the elk refuge north of Jackson.

Well done! Sounds like you had a blast. Congrats.

Here's a bit more...……. Animalia (from Latin meaning animals): The kingdom Animalia, or Metazoa, includes all animals. Animals are multicellular, eukaryotic organisms, which are heterotrophic, meaning they obtain nutrition from organic sources. Chordata (from Latin meaning chords): Chordates are animals that possess a notochord, a hollow dorsal nerve cord, pharyngeal slits, an endostyle, and a post-anal tail, for at least some period of their life cycle. Mammalia (from Latin meaning breasts): Mammals are any of a class of warm-blooded higher vertebrates that nourish their young with milk secreted by mammary glands, have the skin usually more or less covered with hair, and include humans. Artiodactyla (from Greek meaning even-toed): an order of hoofed mammals (as the sheep, goat, pig, camel, or ox) with an even number of functional toes on each foot. Tayassuidae (from Latin (plural of Tayassu) meaning pigs): The family is made up of the three species of peccary found from the southwestern United States to Argentina. Pecari (from Latin meaning peccaries): a genus of mammals in the peccary family, Tayassuidae. tajacu (origin unknown - named Tayassu tajacu by Linnaeus, 1758): the (sub) species name for collared peccary or javelina. The 14 subspecies occur from northern Argentina in South America, throughout Central America, and have spread into the southern Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas in the United States.

Anyone who wishes to know all about javelina should find and read Jerry Day's excellent treatise on the subject -- JAVELINA --RESEARCH AND MANGEMENT IN ARIZONA. As a biologist at the AGFD, Day spent years studying javelina. I think the AGFD published the book (5"x9" softcover, 122 pgs.) in the mid-1980s, so I'm not sure it's still available as a new buy. Although swine are supposedly the nearest relatives, he shows a long list of the physical differences between pigs and javelina. Also, although Day uses Tayassu Tajacu, it seems the official taxonomical name is now pecari tajacu. Here's the way the javelina fits into the biological chain, as shown by several reliable references. Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Mammalia Order: Artiodactyla Suborder: Suina Family: Tayassuidae Genus: Pecari Species: tajacu
