  1. I read that the original M855 ammo, which is a NATO round, was designed to penetrate body armor of an enemy combatant. Where the ammo that it replaced was prone to fragmenting, and lack of penetration. The Army has since issued the improved M855A1 ammo which has a solid copper core with steel tip, instead of lead core, and can penetrate certain types of masonry (Brick walls) out to 80 meters.

I don't like riding tame horses, let alone, a huge pissed off animal that would gladly turn me into an ugly spot on the soil. THere is plenty of time in life to live in pain. Just ask us old farts with bad backs.

    Problem with neighbor's dog

  4. The M855 Ammo, or Green tip, is standard issue, and not classified, or banned as armor piercing. It has a steel tip with a lead core. It can penetrate Kevlar, but not steel plate as a true armor piercing round could. Armor piercing ammo that are on the banned list include bullets made of heavy metals, and, or special tips.
  5. One of the articles said that this type of ammo was made to kill enemies wearing hard body armor. IMO- one of the reasons Obama want's to ban it. He doesn't want Americans shooting rounds that will penetrate Kevlar
  6. The ATF Dog and Pony show accepting comments is pretty ironic, when they already have their minds made up.

    Problem with neighbor's dog

I grew up with family owned German Shepherds. Most Loyal and protective dogs I have ever owned. When I was a boy, my Uncle came over he would tease the dog by coming for me. That Dog would get right between me and my Uncle. Then My Uncle got bit because he pushed the dog too far. My dog wouldn't hurt anyone unless you messed with the family. My uncle found out the hard way. Had a German Shepherd that would walk with me to the bus stop when I went to Sabino High School. All the other kids knew her, and she was great around them. When the bus picked us up, she would walk herself back home about a 1/4mile. Good dogs are good dogs. It's just hard to breed out the unpredictability of what was once a wild animal.
  8. From the NRA.... In a move clearly intended by the Obama Administration to suppress the acquisition, ownership and use of AR-15s and other .223 caliber general purpose rifles, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives unexpectedly announced today that it intends to ban commonplace M855 ball ammunition as “armor piercing ammunition.” The decision continues Obama’s use of his executive authority to impose gun control restrictions and bypass Congress. It isn’t even the third week of February, and the BATFE has already taken three major executive actions on gun control. First, it was a major change to what activities constitute regulated “manufacturing” of firearms. Next, BATFE reversed a less than year old position on firing a shouldered “pistol.” Now, BATFE has released a “Framework for Determining Whether Certain Projectiles are ‘Primarily Intended for Sporting Purposes’ Within the Meaning of 18 U.S.C. 921(a)(17)©”, which would eliminate M855’s exemption to the armor piercing ammunition prohibition and make future exemptions nearly impossible. By way of background, federal law imposed in 1986 prohibits the manufacture, importation, and sale by licensed manufacturers or importers, but not possession, of “a projectile or projectile core which may be used in a handgun and which is constructed entirely . . . from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium copper, or depleted uranium.” Because there are handguns capable of firing M855, it “may be used in a handgun.” It does not, however, have a core made of the metals listed in the law; rather, it has a traditional lead core with a steel tip, and therefore should never have been considered “armor piercing.” Nonetheless, BATFE previously declared M855 to be “armor piercing ammunition,” but granted it an exemption as a projectile “primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes.” Now, however, BATFE says that it will henceforth grant the “sporting purposes” exception to only two categories of projectiles: Category I: .22 Caliber Projectiles A .22 caliber projectile that otherwise would be classified as armor piercing ammunition under 18 U.S.C. 921(a)(17)( will be considered to be “primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes” under section 921(a)(17)© if the projectile weighs 40 grains or less AND is loaded into a rimfire cartridge. Category II: All Other Caliber Projectiles Except as provided in Category I (.22 caliber rimfire), projectiles that otherwise would be classified as armor piercing ammunition will be presumed to be “primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes” under section 921(a)(17)© if the projectile is loaded into a cartridge for which the only handgun that is readily available in the ordinary channels of commercial trade is a single shot handgun. ATF nevertheless retains the discretion to deny any application for a “sporting purposes” exemption if substantial evidence exists that the ammunition is not primarily intended for such purposes. BATFE is accepting comments until March 16, 2015 on this indefensible attempt to disrupt ammunition for the most popular rifle in America. Check back early next week for a more in-depth analysis of this “framework” and details on how you can submit comments.
  9. I saw the articles on this. His Agenda on this is that he feels the "Ball Ammo" is an armor(Body armor) piercing round, and needs to be eliminated as a threat to law enforcement, and those who wear bullet proof vests as an LEO, or Fed. To me, it is nothing but another backdoor approach to chip away the freedom of Guns and ammo. It's just another Executive "End Around" Congress.

Back in the late 1970's when I was in High School, a buddy of mine tried talking me into entering an amateur bull/Bronc riding event held every weekend in far east Tucson. "Does the entry fee include a bodybag" ! No thanks!

Certainly not the vision we had when we saw "Nice Beaver" as a topic thread. Us males spend too much time with our minds in the gutter.

    Washing Machine Repair Tech/Advice

Front loaders are notorious for vibration after awhile. The parts you mentioned are easy to fix, Pulley, shocks. The rubber pads that slip under the levelers can help. Shocks and rubber pads fixed the one that is in the laundry room were I live. That dang thing moved a foot from the vibration and actually pulled the drain hose out of the wall and flooded the floor.

    Problem with neighbor's dog

Never thought about a Foxpro. I bet I could really get the attention of my neighbors with it. I was actually thinking about setting up some airhorns, and letting it rip.

Did any of you Phoenix residents see the news on the guy that shot his neighbors dogs, he then shot the neighbors, and then shot himself. Pretty freaky stuff.

    Problem with neighbor's dog

A few years ago I was helping a guy do a side job replacing a bunch of windows in a house. I was outside working on one, and out of the corner of my eye I saw a pitbull standing 10 feet away looking at me. It's head was covered in blood, and it had bloody drool coming out of it's mouth. It was one of those "Oh crap" moments. All I had was a hammer to defend myself.I was wondering if I should run, or smash that dog like the Hammer of Thor. Apparently a home was broken into earlier that morning and the dog jumped through the broken window and cut it's head. The dog was friendly, and the homeowner knew who it belonged too. IF I had a pitbull, I would at least hope that it would eat any intruder that broke in to my house.

Be careful how you launch your boat

I don't have a boat. But I was camping at the edge of San Carlos many years ago. I slept in the back of my truck, and when I woke up in the morning the water was six inches or so up the side of my tires. That is about as submerged as I have ever been,

Be careful how you launch your boat

I'm wondering if that white truck further up the ramp had a winch on it. How could you drive a fully submerged truck out of the water. It would be sucking water into the crankcase and short out the ignition
