Has anyone noticed how increasingly stupid people have become? Especially over the last 8 years? Did anyone attending the SCI banquet see the protest crowd? Animal advocates protest against trophy hunting Jennifer Delacruz10:18 PM, Jun 18, 2016 Local animal activists spoke out Saturday against trophy hunting around the world. A protest took place outside Lowes Ventana Canyon where Safari Club International was holding a fundraiser. SCI is headquartered here in Tucson and works to protect the rights of wildlife hunters. In less than one week, local animal rights group SPEAK gathered more than 1,000 signatures on Change.org. They started the petition to prevent Lowes Ventana Canyon from hosting an annual fundraiser for SCI. Despite SPEAK's efforts, the fundraiser still took place. "We think it's time that people take a stand against trophy hunting," said SPEAK spokesperson Gary Vella. About a dozen wildlife activists rallied outside the foothills resort in opposition of the Safari Club. On their website, SCI states they promote hunters rights and wildlife conservation. Local animal advocates disagree. "The idea that protecting them requires us to manipulate them, exploit them, abuse them or kill them just doesn't make any sense," said Brendan DeSmet. They said the goal behind Saturday's rally was to get people talking. "If nothing else, it's time that the rest of the community and the public at large start raising their heads up and say, 'You know something? These species are disappearing ten and twenty animals at a time and you people need to put your guns away and get out of the way,"' said Vella. The protest comes about one year after outrage sparked when Cecil the lion was killed by an American dentist in Zimbabwe. "It seems like the attention has died down somewhat," said DeSmet. "But the poachers, the hunters, the big game killers are still out there and it's important for everybody in their locale to speak up about their local wildlife and about the dwindling population all around the world."

That is a brutal job in the heat. Are you working at the Pantano wash project on Kolb road?

The common denominator among these hiker deaths, is they only had 1 or 2 bottles of water with them. Even in cooler hunting weather, I will stuff at least 6 to 8 bottles of water in my pack.

Tucson hit 118 in a few places, but the official temp comes from the airport. 2 hikers died yesterday, and 1 is still missing. What possesses people to hike in an inferno is beyond me. It may be nice in the early morning, but it gets hot really quick.

Tucson hit an official 115 degrees today. 2 degrees shy of the June 117 degree record. All I know....is that it was super hot, and it really sucks.

PHOENIX - With record heat in the forecast, pilots and passengers are remembering back to that 122-degree day in 1990 when it was so hot that jets couldn't take off from Sky Harbor International Airport. Some often wonder if it could happen again. The answer, according to American Airlines, is “yes and no.” Airplanes don’t perform as well in thin air and air gets thinner when temperatures rise. The hotter the temperatures, the longer an airplane will spend on the runway trying to get up to takeoff speed. Pilots know exactly how much runway they need for takeoff thanks to detailed performance charts. In 1990, none of those charts went above 120 degrees. "You could extrapolate and you could guess. [but] we don't fly passengers around on guesswork,” said Jim Tilmon, an aviation expert and former American Airlines pilot. “Nobody had thought of taking off when the temperature was 120-some degrees.” American Airlines told ABC15 that all the performance charts for large jets have long-since been updated for higher temperatures and the airline has no worries about delays for those scheduled flights. However, not all small regional aircraft have updated charts. “If the temperatures rise to the extent that it would inhibit our calculations of weight and thrust for ‘lift’ accurately, then we cannot take off, so we may proactively delay some departures until the air temperature reduces,” said John Daley, American Airlines managing director at Phoenix Sky Harbor, in an email. Tilmon said airplanes will still fly in extreme heat, but to do so without accurate data is not only unsafe – it’s illegal. “You didn't want to pretend you had the right numbers and you didn't. That's called guesswork and that's called an accident...and yes, illegal,” said Tilmon. Tilmon has a cautionary tale from many years ago when the airline industry wasn't quite as careful calculating hot weather. A discrepancy between the temperature at the tower and the temperature on the runway caused him a dicey takeoff on a hot day in Tucson. “I'm looking down at the end of the runway and it was coming up pretty dang fast,” said Tilmon, adding that his flight crew had to turn off the air conditioning system mid-runway to find the extra power needed to get the wheels off the ground. “It was said that we made a rooster tail across the desert that we were so low.”

March 2011 blizzard. Employee parking lot at Blackhawk Manufacturing in Bozeman, Montana. That would feel good right now.

I'm pushing 55 years old, and almost as poor as a church mouse. 20 year old ASU girls wouldn't give me the time of day, let alone put the goodies in my face.

The nicest pair on the planet, will not motivate me away from the air conditioner. Us older guys have different priorities.

The president can propose it, but it'll never pass congress or hold up to the supreme court. Totally unconstitutional to revoke a persons rights without due process. Keeping them off airplanes? Sure, you dont have a right to fly any where. You do have a right to keep and bare arms. This is exactly why our founding fathers set up a government with checks and balances. Asset forfeiture is very similar. Any state or federal entity can seize your money, and assets even if you are not convicted of any wrong doing. Good luck getting it back. IRS is notorious for bypassing due process. The Federal leftists, and their flying monkey's, have mastered the art of bypassing the "checks and balances", implemented by our forefathers, who were pretty smart men.
