Sorry to hear about your BPS mis-adventure. I have been a cabelas online and mail order customer for many, many years, and never a problem. I order it and it shows up in 4-5 days, done deal, never a problem. I do like Sportsmans, it is like toys-r-us for big kids, alot of stuff . I am going down to the Tucson store and see Firstcouseswas80, because I love to give salesman a hard time.

how many of you make your own sausage?
Snapshot replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
The Sausage shop is who I use for what I mentioned in my first post. Ask for Kent the owner, if you stop by there. I will still find out what he uses on his sausage for you. -
Die hard Coues hunters refer to mule deer as "Karp/carp, because they think they are big and dumb and easy to kill, like a carp at the lake. There are those of us that are 50/50 and hunt both without bias, but we don't let the other half know about this so that we will get less grief about it.

Sorry, but that is something I have not attempted yet. I always have my butcher make up smoked summer sausage and brats type stuff. I will see if I can find out what he uses, as it is very good and the casing is light . -
Depends on what unit you are planning to hunt. Most December rifle hunts have very limited tag numbers so it will not be nearly as crowded as the earlier hunts

How many days in the field?
Snapshot replied to KidBowHunter's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I am self employed with a schedule that can change weekly, which makes it hard to get the hunting time in that I would like, however, I would say I hunt and scout maybe 30 days a year more or less. -

I have never hunted the Kaibab, but I fish at Lee's Ferry every year. It is a beautiful thing to see them soaring on the thermals in the canyon. -
I spend most of my time in the Northern half of the unit, but we did get some serious rain the last couple days in the Santa Rita's and a dusting of snow on the peaks.

Sounds like your going to have a blast! I wish I could hunt for a month. Good Luck! -
I think deer numbers are struggling in unit 1 as well, and being a popular hunting destination for archery it got tagged as one of the potential archery draw hunts.?

It can be questionable that time of year. I watch the weather reports carefully. If it is too brutal, I will stay down here in Southern AZ and hunt. If there is a chance of heavy snow I won't go, cause it is remote and I don't want to get snowed in, especially pulling a travel trailer. But if the weather is good, that first week of January can be special, or you can just end up freezing the marbles.

I hope to experience sheep hunting for myself someday, while I can still make it to the top of the mountain, gettin harder every year.

Help me name my new dog!
Snapshot replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Man, I am going to have to do a better job sucking up next time to win that prize! -
Check the regs again, third line up from the bottom of the archery section. the unit 27 archery hunt is for January only. I believe they closed the december archery hunt in 27 to help take the pressure off of the rutting mule deer because of the dwindling population. I am going up to 27 to hunt in January. Januanry 1st- 31 16A, 27, 45A, 45B, 45C any antlered deer
