Yeah, I wish they would have left the hunt in November. I got the same tag, and have been waiting 5 long years for that first choice. I am going up and start scouting next month with the trail cam that I am buying. Even with warm weather I am going to find that toad of a buck.

Sorry you didn't get drawn bro .

Whoooo...hooooo, I finally drew my Unit 27 whitetail tag. I have not been drawn for my unit in 5 years, I am pumped up.

You guys got it bad -
Nice gun and nice present from your wife!

O.K , now that all you trail cam guys have completely corrupted me with your great photos , I am going to buy my first trail cam with a built in viewer as I want simplicity of being able to view pictures on the spot and move the camera accordingly. The places I will set it up are more remote and unlikely to be found by anybody, so price is not as much of a concern as is a good cam. I also intend to buy the metal security housing so the bears can not damage it. What do you guys "in the know" reccommend?

Gutless Field Dressing
Snapshot replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I have never tried the gutless method, but I would like to learn. I have always carried a cheap 6'x6' tarp in my backpack to put on the ground. -
After holding that gun at the party, I can tell it should be one sweet shooting rifle!

Kirt Darner pleaded guilty!

Thats the best article on the situationI have read yet! -
Check out the story on Kirt Darner on the NMGF website. I used to idolize Darner back in the mid -1980's during his hey day, it stinks to find out your hunting hero is a schister.

While in the woods/desert
Snapshot replied to KGAINES's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Even though I have not seen many lions, I have good premonition. When the hair on the back of my neck starts to tingle, I start looking around carefully. The one encounter I had with a lion happened that way -

Snakes and getting hurt for sure. -
I moved to Tucson with my parents in 1973. My dad and I started hunting quail and mule deer in unit 37B, then we started hunting unit 30B, which back then was a fantastic unit for mule deer. In 1979 we started hunting unit 27 which back in those days had 5000-6000 permits between the different hunts and there were tags to spare. Unit 27 has been my first and second choice every year since then even though it is much harder to get a tag. My Dad passed away 2 years ago and we scattered his ashes in unit 27 last year as it was his favorite place. Good times, good memories.

Yeah, this is what I call the silly season. I just read something on another site that somone spoke to a G&F rep that they ran into and he said the middle of this week. But we all know how that goes! -
E-Scouting at its finest.

Word on the street is the middle of this week! -
Those are great pics and animals. I bet your kids were stoked up on that hunt!

I have good success with 4# flourocarbon tied to a 1/4 oz. rainbow colored kastmaster. You can really fling it out into the deeper holes if you are on shore, or troll with a boat. Vary the retrieve and depth until you find fish. Flyfishing is my favorite late in the day.

Those are nice. I love seeing pictures of good bulls!

I am glad you had a good time. For the life of me I couldn't remember your code name " nedflanders" . I will be doing some more scouting down there, so if interested I will get in touch, and we can go for another cruise.

Thats way cool. An African safari is something I would love to do, someday.

It was our pleasure to do it. I look forward to seeing everyone again. My wife Angela got to hear everyone's stories and how passionate everyone is about hunting and the outdoors and she is more interested in doing some hiking and scouting with me.
