Cowards Caught on Camera!
Snapshot replied to cramerhunts's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I still say someone needs to invent a fake trail cam that has a dye cannister and pepper spray inside that would explode everywhere when tampered with. A picture of that happening would be priceless -
I have the Polaris lock and ride mount and Kolpin case its a great set up.

I used to feel that way also. Then 2 years ago I went out and bought a Polaris Sportsman, I am glad I did. Even though I do not use it much during my hunts, I do use it alot to explore roads and trails, or to get to the end of the road and save the wear and tear on my truck. It can be addicting, kind of like a Harley rider on the open road, just that sense of freedom and exploration. Next year I would like to get a side x side so that my wife can have fun with it when we ride, possibly a Polaris Razor. The thing about quads and side x sides is either you like them or you don't and they certainly are expensive.

I have always used Rocky boots. I have a very lightweight pair that I use for most of my hunts, good lugs and ankle support, waterproof.

Very fine buck, and it looks like you made a great shot as well.

Thats a generous offer, I wish I didn't have to work friday. I wouldn't mind rubbin elbows with you for a few hours and have a diamondback dog and a cold brew or two.

I'll help as much as I certainly can. I will be leaving for my unit 27 hunt on October 22nd, hunting there for a week and then head straight to my New Mexico hunt November 1-5 and be back on the Nov 6 approx. 15 straight days, can't wait!

Alot of the southern unit ranchers are the same way, except they have the added pleasure of dealing with illegals, smugglers and trash. I respect the ranching way of life and what they have to go through, but some of those guy's are pretty extreme and try and keep people off of land they do not even own. Grazing rights is not ownership, and water rights only pertains to ground water, stock ponds and reservoirs on their property, as creeks and rivers can not be cut off from people down stream if they just flow through the property in question.

Thats a heck of a nice Coues!

Thanks. I just found some similar nylon tent tape online, I am going to stop by camping world and see if they have some and give it a try.

I have a nice Cabela's two room nylon cabin tent, and last year after I washed it I stretched it out on my flatbed trailer to dry, and when I pulled it off to roll it up it caught on the corner of the trailer and put about a 16" rip in it. Do you know of any good nylon tent tape that I can patch it, I don't want to have to stitch it if I can help it becasue it will pucker and will have to be sealed. I am looking around the internet for options, Just wanted to see if any of you guys/gals might know of something? Thanx!

I don't have alot of experience with Antelope scoring, but I think TLH is pretty close on that score, I would have guessed 85-87".

I wear my helmet faithfully, because of all the bad things I have seen happen to others.

I don't know why I have not posted to this thread yet, but....... I have lived in Tucson since 1973( Minnesota transplant), moved to Sahuarita in 99'. I have been a custom cabinet maker and finish carpenter most of my life and am self employed in that field, I do small remodels on the side, and I also am inspiring to be a part time writer/photographer. I have been a mule deer hunter most of my life and have just started hunting Coues these last 5 years, most in part to this wonderful website and all the great people. Unit 27 has always been my favorite place to hunt deer, elk ,bear, and I get up there any chance I can get, I also like hunting New Mexico and Colorado when I can swing it. I love riding my quad on the back roads and trails (legaly) just to explore new places, and my second love to hunting is flyfishing. I have flyfished around the western united states and my favorite place of all is around West Yellowstone, Montana , the Gunnison Basin in Colorado and Lee's ferry in Arizona.

What would you do for your Coues?
Snapshot replied to Lance's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Well......... I am not as fanatical about Coues hunting as some of you but I have always been a hard huntin, gung ho, up and over the mountain and then over and around three more mountains and then sweat it back to camp in a completely worn out fashion and swearing I'll never do that again, except after a good nights sleep, I end up doing it all again the next day. With advancing age and a chronic back problem I have resolved myself into hunting smarter instead of wearing myself out. So a couple years ago I went and bought a pair of "25 x 100" binoculars and along with my "12 x 50's" will spend more time glassing from good areas and moving around and glassing more and targeting springs and water hole areas. -
