Radios are a great tool for communicating with a hunting buddy or spotter so to speak, and can be very valuable in emergency situations. I just think the high profile hunts get out of hand with too much "electronic aid"

First and foremost, Randy Ulmer is an exceptional archer and bowhunter. The whole two way radio deal is something that has been escalated by some of the guides and outfitters. Look at some of these outfitters that have 20 guys with two way radios blanketing the countryside in search of record book animals, as soon as one is found they home in on it like an elite army unit with a high tech communication center and Bam!, the lucky hunter gets his trophy. This method of hunting, boys and girls, is not representative to the true spirit of hunting and being an outdoorsman. Some of these high dollar clients couldn't find there way around a Walmart parking lot let alone find their own "book" animal. But thats what guides and outfitters are paid to do. As far as Ulmer is concerned, is it about ego? Who Knows. I have heard he is an exceptionally nice person. If I shot a record book animal would I enter it into the books? heck yes! But I don't hunt to get my name in the books. We each hunt for our own reasons and to each his own. Some guys get so caught up in "antler score" that they have to get something bigger and better each year in order to satisfy themselves, and that is fine as long as they don't forget to see the tree's through the forest, and not turn down the wrong path like Kirt Darner or some of the other obsessive knuckleheads that have ruined there fame by too much ego.

Its pretty hard to pass on a buck during bow season. I live by the philosophy, if you have to think about the size of the animal your drawing on, then its best not to shoot. A 160" buck is still a very nice one these days.

Klondyke Butte.?

I was just looking around at the Docter 40 x 80mm = $3600.00, wonder if the Swaro's will be comparible?

Thanks Lark. I hunt in upper Eagle Creek valley but not that far north. Sometimes we stop at Honeymoon and do alittle flyfishing, but you are right about the fires and ash, if enough if it washes down it will kill the fish. I am going to be up there in a couple weeks for some scouting and a little R&R. I will check it out.

That's not illegal though. Maybe, maybe not. I don't know the fine points of the law on that. But basically the guy sold info on the location of an animal that was hunted, technically guiding without a license since he was paid???? That really wasn't was argued about, it was the whole ethical, unethical, standpoint of what happened. Regardless of the rights and wrongs, you know its not good when it ends up in front of a judge.

THINGS ARE COMING TOGETHER

Very nice! -
This issue caused some very heated debates on some other websites after it happened. The rumor was that one of the area residents had this bull patterned and had it on video and sold that info to the guy with the tag. I don't know the truth to the matter, however, it was heavily argued.

Bad moon on the rise.

G&F would probably consider it baiting, but I certainly don't know for sure. If a bear stumbled across a substance legally placed for deer, it is probably a legal grey area. Maybe a telephone call to G&F might clarify it? B. An individual shall not place substances in a manner intended to attract bears.

I was drawn for the same hunt this year. I saw a nice 160" class buck last year while archery elk hunting. Hope to find him this year if he is still around.

The problem is that everyone has the trail cam thing figured out. Regardless if the people stealing them are unscrupulous hunters, forest service people, or people that know they can make a quick $50-100 on ebay, or whomever. Find a water hole within proximity to any road or trail and you will probably find a trail cam. I would bet that somebody has got it figured out that they can earn extra income by finding and selling trail cams, or maybe the whacko anti's are working overtime.?

I carry the same stuff used to clean my camera lenses, a small eyedrop sized bottle of lense cleaner and a few swatches stashed away in the day pack works for the bino's and riflescope.

I started hunting quail and rabbits in 1973 when my Mom and Dad moved us to Tucson, a man that my Dad knew took us out to unit 37B. My Dad bought me a winchester youth model single shot 20 guage. When I turned 14, after passing the hunters safety course my Dad bought me a remington model 700 in .308, and that thing kicked like a mule to a bony 14 year old. I took my first mule deer 3 years later down in unit 30B after I figured out how to hunt them. -
Trying to get the carcass out the front gate would be a little difficult.

If the bank manager was totally wrong for doing what he did(spiteful), and they had no financial reason to freeze your account, I would hire a lawyer and make them pay for what they did. Bank of America is one of the worst banks out there, not that any bank can be considered good

Wac em and stack em.

Good remote country, heck of a hike to get up in there!
