I understand the "funk" you are in. I have always hunted solo for the most part. Even though my Dad and I always camped together, I mostly hunted alone. Since my dad passed on,the last couple of seasons have been hollow and empty, and I felt as I was just going through the motions and not really enjoying myself as I normally would. Sometimes just the anticipation of an upcoming hunt can be half the fun, but can also be a let down if we are not mentally prepared to follow through on what we imagine our hunt will be. For me, hunting has always been much more than just a quest to tag an animal. It is a time to enjoy the mountains, the companionship and comraderie of hunting camp and a time to "recharge the spiritual batteries". Food for the soul, so to speak. As some here have mentioned, the economy and other various factors play a role in diminishing our capabilities of the hunt, but things have a way of working out, and the funk will always pass.

Are you sure thats not a Caribou . Nice buck! -
I over compensated for angle on the deer I shot 2 weeks ago. The range was 394 yards at a down hill angle, and I held as if it was 300, and I still shot 10" low and hit him in the elbow, the next shot I held at full yardage and made a good shot in the middle of the shoulder. So even though the angle was less than I thought, I way over compensated.

I am interested in the new Canon G10, as a more easy to carry all around camera. My big Canon pro camera (film) is to big to stick in the back pack, and eventually I want to get pro digital gear, someday -

Rosemont Mine
Snapshot replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I don't think the original poster meant any offense, but just a statement made out of frustration. I have seen the area in question and what is happening there. A very beautiful and multi use area is going to be destroyed for all time. I live on the other side of the mountain from the mine and there has been some speculation as to what will happen to the ground water, as alot of us are on wells. I have friends and in-laws that work for the mines and have seen what happens when lay-offs and wage cuts take effect. I am all for a boost to the local economy and the jobs the mine will create, but am also saddened by what will be lost in the process, it is certainly a double edged sword. -

Sounds like the beginning of a CW.com party!! Happy Birthday Jim! Amanda Snapshot, 4:03 AM!!!!! Good Lord! I was asleep at that time dreaming of the buck I could possibly kill on my B-day! I was hunting a canyon That my dad was hunting the day I was born. That day he shot a buck that won a rifle in a big deer contest in Tucson with a field dressed weight of 112 pounds! The deer was a big 3 ptr with long tines. The antlers dissapeared, but were thought to have been B&C class! I do have the rifle that was won from that day. Every few years I get to hunt on my B-day. I like hunting the same spot where my dad shot that buck the day I was born! Thank You SO MUCH Jim Reynolds (Antlerdog) I have to get up at 3:30 a.m on workdays, to be up at the jobsite in Catalina by 6:00 a.m, so I log on early and pour some coffee in my eyes, hop in the shower and off I go.

Thats great Scott. A very nice looking house and spread you got in a beautiful area. I bet you will be glad when you are finished, as building houses is alot of hard work and long hours. Best wishes to you and the family.
