I think fall is coming quick to Montana. Had Ice on my windshield, and there is a skiff of snow in the high country from a storm that came through. 28 degrees the other morning. They thought a tornado came through West Yellowstone on Saturday, about 2 hours after I left town. It blew roofs off and broke alot of tree's. Turned out to be microburst type winds. Compiling some more pics to post. The aspen should be turning color soon and make for some good pics. Elk will be bugling soon. Heading for Ennis this weekend for the Flyfishing festival. Seminars, raffles, entertainment etc.

Did I tell anyone about the mosquito's and deer flies up here! Nasty little buggers! I went fly fishing on the Madison down by Ghost Village yesterday, and forgot to spray myself......................... The deer flies were so insane they chased me right off the river. But I did land 4 rainbows and a dozen whitefish. My hands are pretty swollen today from fly bites. Now let me tell you about these dang whitefish........................................

So how was the show. Did anyone go?

Yep, I forgot the most important part. The Butter!

I guess I am a little late in posting this, but I like to take a small portion of roasted garlic, lemon pepper, and finely diced onions and stuff the trout with it and wrap in tin foil and grill on low heat. The bar and grill I work for in the evenings here in Montana also serves a smoked trout appetizer, with sweet onion, crackers, cheese, and it is fantastic.

My thoughts exactly! -
Nice pics! Utha has alot of interesting places. When I came up to Montana, I passed by the Barnes Bullet factory south of Salt Lake and I was almost tempted to stop in, but I was running behind schedule. So maybe on the way back...............?

Excellent pics Doug.! I have spent some time in the San Juans in the past, and there are very few places in North America that are as beautiful as those mountains, especially when the flowers are in bloom. September is also great month when the leaves change color.

My apologies for missing this thread. Have not spent much time cruising the forum. Lots of prayers and well wishes for our fearless leader. I hope everything goes well and pray for a speedy recovery. God Bless!

Well, I no longer work for the Lodge. The health department shut them dowm for an unknown period of time because of E-Coli, and Campobackter(?) found in the well water. They have to put in a new well and septic-leach field. Their season is pretty much ruined. I will be renting an RV spot at one of the local campgrounds and looking for a new day job, even though I still have my night job. Had dinner next too, and chatted with one of our local celebrities who lives around here. He will be on the show "psyche" on August 18th. I will let you figure out who it is I am putting together somemore photos and will post soon. The RV park I am going to has WIFI, so I can get on the internet more frequently.

Maple peak is a spot for the ambitious, or, a guy with horses Last November when I was up elk hunting, I lost count of all the whitetail I saw east and west of Strayhorse campground. There are alot along the face of the rim. It is not the easiest area to hunt but...........

Thanks for all the great comments. It is very nice being up here in the summer, and I may become a permanent resident in the next year or two. I am kinda burned out of living in the desert. I don't know what is worse, the Arizona heat, or the Montana winter? Time will tell. Today, the Cafe ath the resort was closed by the health department. There has been a virus or something going around and alot of people around here, icncluding myself have gotten sick. I had to go to Ennis this afternoon to leave a little soemthing from my inside to test , we are not allowed to work or reopen the restaurant until the bug is pinpointed. This is not a localized situation, other areas have been infected also. Besides my fulltime day job, I also work 4 nights week at a bar and Grill down in the Madison valley, and I am not allowed back until I test negative for the Campo something or other virus. One of my coworkers was tested positive and she is on antibiotics and out of work until she retests negative. Alot of people have been sick.

Sounds like a good time. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Obama and the entire joke of a Democratic party, know the only way they he will get another term in office is to get the votes of people he gives amnesty too. Pretty sad state of affairs for this country when the quest for political power is more important then doing what is right.

Party at Jim Reynolds' house
Snapshot replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Get-togethers!
I think we should set up a live feed so you can watch the party as it happens LOL! Sorry you won't be there buddy...we will miss you. Thanks! Its always fun getting together with fellow members. Now, if we can just figure out a way to send some of Jim's cold beer through that live feed...........? -
Hey gang, Made it too Montana without anything else blowing up on my truck or RV. It has been cold, snowy, windy, but great to be here. I am a short walk from world class flyfishing. I am staying at the confluence of cabin creek and the Madison river between Hebgen and Quake Lake. Fish Report = Excellent. I fish after work, because it stays light enough until 9:00 p.m Have caught numerous Rainbow trout up to 20", and one pig of a brown trout of 22" Met the Actor William Devane who is a regular at the resort cafe. He is a passionate flyfisherman and a great guy. I work in the flyshop most of the time so he is always int here. I wil go fishing with him one of these days. Don't have any pics right now but I will update soon. There is no WIFI Or cell phone signal where I am at so I have to drive to West Yelowstone to the Internet cafe. Best Wishes to all of you. Brent

I am kicking myself for leaving my camera in my RV that day! 2 weeks ago I had an even bigger brown snap my line on me, but I know where that fish lives............. Went to Bozeman and bought a new camera. Tommorrow, July 15, is a day off for me and I will be traveling to fish the opener of the Yellowstone river in YNP, and will post a bunch of pics that I have, along with the ones I will take tommorrow.
