Hypothetical Bear Questions????
Snapshot replied to azcouesfanatic's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
If I knew that someone was running a bear, I would back off and not shoot. They did the hard work to find and trail it. I wouldn't want someone to do that to me. -
You have to know your trees..........as in.....which one to sit under.

I also have unit 27 honey holes. I could tell you....but then I would have to kill you! Just kidding Anywhere along the southern face of the rim is good. On my elk hunt in 2009, I saw more Coues along the southern rim than I could shake a stick at. But it is very thick off the rim. I hunt further south in the unit. There are good pockets of Coues, finding the pockets is half the battle. There are even good Coues in the 4 -Bar area now. Greys and Mitchell Peak areas, any of the canyons below. An outfitter told me about some gagger bucks he saw in Robinson mesa area up by Honeymoon. But the area is very, very, thick and tough to glass. I have personally seen some good bucks in hot air canyon below sheep saddle, its thick in there also, but glassable if you find the right spot to sit. The same person told me about good whitetail in an area around Brigham Peak, which is in the Red mountain area. I always wanted to hike in there to check it out, but it would be a backpack hunt, or you would need horses, as it is quite aways in. The picture in my Avatar is a unit 27 buck (99 5/8) I hope to be up there in January, chasing bucks in the peak of the rut.

Found this info. Now I understand who the trusts are......I think? I always thought that "State Trust" land was land held by the State, with the public as the trust. Lands are held in trust pursuant to the state enabling act and state constitution. Arizona has one of the most restrictive trust management requirements: trust lands and their natural products may be sold only to the "highest and best bidder at public auction;" all lands and leases must be appraised at their "true value" before being offered; and lands cannot be disposed for less than the appraised value. Lands are managed by the Arizona State Land Department under the direction of a state land commissioner who is appointed and serves at the pleasure of the governor. Beneficiaries common schools universities – includes normal schools, agriculture and mechanical colleges, military institutes, school of mines, university land code, and University of Arizona miners' hospital school for the deaf and blind state charitable, penal, and reformatory penitentiaries state hospital legislative, executive & judicial buildings

Having worked for the state land department for 5 years as one of the 6 land managers for over 9 million acres, the state land is not owned by the public, it is owned by the 7 trust beneficiaries, and is the same as private land. It is ALL UP FOR SALE TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER. The land department only manages it to get the most money out of it for the beneficiaries. If they had their way, we would have to by a hunting license and the $75.00 per state land access permit just to set foot on any state land. My mistake. Who is the trust beneficiary? If it is State land, and the state is run by elected officials, elected by taxpayers, with taxpayer dollars, how does it become private?

That creek sure has some toads in it. Nice catch!

In actuality, State land is owned by the taxpayer. The State is just a steward of that land. Just as G&F is a steward of our wildlife. That does not mean the State won't make a bonehead deal with our land.

Good for you! Fantastic buck in some beautiful country! Thanks for sharing!

Prop 120 could be a double edged sword. But would we really want the Feds to have control over our wildlife? If Anti's and enviro whackos start litigation at a Federal level, I feel things could get ugly? I support Prop 120

Here is a perfect example of liberals and our school systems http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes/top-stories/school-lets-dems-register-students-to-vote-but-not-gop.html -
Easy Guys. I think DB was just making a fictional statement about the corn. Just like when we say " It was crowded, and We saw a thousand other hunters during our hunt" Doesn't mean we actually saw that many.

I ran across an article about a guy using "Cheriyaki" Sauce. It is a mixture of cherry and Teriyaki. Purchased from World Harbor.

I am pleasantly surprised at the Vikings. They have alot of young talent, and are in rebuilding mode. They have already won more games than all of last year combined. I hope the winning streak continues. Percy Harvin was a beast today. I went to Famous Sams to watch the game and have a few beers and food. There were alot of unhappy Packers fans in there during the last part of that game. The 49'ers are looking stout.

I have been using a recipe from Outdoor Life Magazine since the late 1970's. The Normal ingredients plus I add a coat of coarse black pepper. Not sure what ingredient for sweet and chewy?

It's just fans from rival schools joking around. It's all in good fun.

I find the motives of banning this questionable. Since they are saying "attracting animals" in the attempt to harvest. Are they going to eventually ban "Elk calls", used to attract elk?

Nice! Just remember, bugling to elk in the park will get you in trouble with the Jellystone park rangers. Spent the last 2 summers up there. It is an awesome time of year, in, and around. Yellowstone.
