I would love to start flinging projectiles and "Thin the herd", however my neighbors would hear or see me, and snitch to the landlord. If it wasn't for that, those pigeons would be resting peacfully in the promised land.

It's tough to pass on a buck like that, especially towards the end of the hunt. I probably would have done the same as you, and passed him up. I live in my RV, and the freezer is about the size of a large shoebox.

Funny thing is the pigeons and sparrows will eat side by side with each other. If a Dove shows up, the pigeons get really agressive and chase off the doves

and don't forget to check the tree for squirrels when you get home

I was just looking at some info online. They reccomend buying a big plastic owl or hawk and putting on a fence or tree, but that would scare off all birds methinks!

Usually the top of the tree is cut off to the size you need. I always put sugar water in the tree holder. I also misted the tree everyday with a spray bottle. It helped keep them from drying out to soon. Big fire hazard when they get dry.

Pedigree's are nice, but my best dog was a stray that I found and adopted. +1 on the pound. Save a dog's life, and gain a great friend.

I don't consider myself a trophy hunter. but I have taken a few "forkies" over the years, when I couldn't find the big one. I love venison jerky, so sometimes I might shoot a meat buck, but not often. I have harvested enough deer over the years, where I just want to enjoy the hunt, and shoot a mature buck if opportunity provides. Wildlife management aside, if someone wants a spike or forkie, thats their prerogative.
