What is your opinion on the 10mm

Basically the same thing as a 41 Magnum. Alot less recoil than a 44 Mag with a whole bunch of punch. Great idea for backcountry carry. Glocks are ugly, have no grace and beauty but they always go "bang". The recoil out of the Glock is more manageable than the 1911 variants. I had a colt that kicked so hard the safety would reset itself. That was bad. You need to make sure and ride the safety on 1911's.

Doug, You obviously don't fall down as much as I. You are a brave man to take that purty a rifle into coues country. How is the barrels holdin on them 264 shortwizzmers? I am shootin the 6.5x284 again.....

    22-250 brass

sounds like a chamber issue. What happens is you run it down over a peice of new brass? I have two rifles (same caliber) that I can not mix brass with. One will hang brass from the other after full length resizing. It should chamber fine in the rifle it ws fired in, even if you can't get it all the way down.

    ATV Gun Boots

Don't buy the cheap mount, its sh...cheap. Get their most expensive one, it works well. Also make sure you order the flat rack version, not the tubular. They work fine. I did find that I cannot use mine with target turrets so I have been strapping a hard case down on the rack, then tieing the rest of my sh..stuff on top. After doing it for awhile I kinda like it better. Feel that the rifle is more secure and not bumping around as much. The hard case has alot more padding and there is no room for it to move. It does distract from the "quick draw" ability, if that is important to you. I have never glassed any deer while riding my quad anyway......

Oehler, RR is right, if you can find one. I also have a PACT that seems to work very well. Can download updates off the net.

Good stuff Doug. I have tried that method and like it for some rifles. I have problems with guns that are long throated and I am loading well above max. Audettes system works for me there because I am pressure testing as I go. I find I can get the OCW with fewer rounds fired (usually). I only shoot about 10 in a ladder, and the "sweet spot" is usually right on the money. Dan's OCW concept is, in my opinion, right on. The question is how do you find it efficiently..... I also found that the round robin works in some rifles but not others. I have a kreiger that shoots great until you hit the magic number and things fall apart. this method works well with my Liljas.

    7mm Rem Mag

shoot it first and see what it would do. Some of those things shoot great. Wouldn't be worth messing with a good shooter for an extra 150 fps......

Books are like stop signs. I view them more as a suggestion... Do like the all-wise Rabbit says and load up until you have pressure signs. Back off a grain and load five. Do that with five different powders. Shoot the five groups and see which one performs.. I seem to get one of the max loads that will shoot under or at an inch every time and that is minute of Coues accuracy... If you want to get fancy you can shoot a "ladder" while you are doing it. Shoot at 300 yards, .3 grain increments until you get pressure. Mark each shot in your group on a target at your bench with a number. What you should see is a cluster will form at the "sweet spot" where several loads will group together. Take the middle charge and run with it. A couple "ladders" with different powders will tell you what your gun likes and where it likes it. Allows you to find your pet load in 40 rounds.

    30-06 Coues Load?

If you don't handload, shoot some Hornady Light Magnums in 150 grn and see what they do. In my Browning 78 they are printing .6" 5 shot groups! MV (mean) is 3100fps with a SD of 17. I found these rounds and quit reloading '06's. I have tried the 165's, which shoot well, but they don't group with the 150's. '06 is what God carries when he is tired of using his 6.5x284.......
