Here we go. Again! Probably won't get the Yukon done in time for a last minute scout- (switching out the transfer case and a new yolk is ordered) and I'm busting at the seams ready to go. I've spent some time there this past month- lost a cam. By lost I mean someone acquired it. Suddenly roads with a lot of elk activity are closed. (Those wonderful yellow stickers that magically appear on the brown signs) - that kinda sucks. They closed them in mid Nov. Probably during the late archery hunt. (And what's really odd is sometimes they only post that on one road entrance, but not the others.) I really love 7E. Not tons of elk, but I'm hopeful the lower resident herds don't move far. I'm heading up the 1st just to chop enough wood for 7 nights. Or I'll hit Flag and get a pickup full from someone selling. Got three tags this year- me and the boy, and one of my friends that has never hunted a day in his life. Should prove interesting.

Not alot. The goats are splashing in the puddles though.

We came home empty handed. Was a blast though- everyone had a good time. We were in the right place, just didn't see them. Looking forward to next year!

Took me a few days to locate. Sitting water is out of the question- they’re straight up nocturnal now. I’m in a good area, we’re glassing up bedding from hill to hill. Wasn’t too far from last years spot- fresh sign all over and new tracks everywhere. I think they’re up high and in the nasties during the day. Wondering what kind of storm is coming tomorrow.

I'm so done. I've busted the last two we had on the Elk hunt in Oct. Cheapies. Looking for something beefier. (And taller) I'm about 6'5 240 and I'm thinking I need one of these: Amazon.com: Kuma Outdoor Gear Lazy Bear Heated Chair (Red Plaid) : Sports & Outdoors (Heating model is optional- I'll be in front of a fire) You guys have any luck with Kuma? Would like a heavy duty rated chair- these are up to 350. And I"ll need 2-3 of them. The boys are just about as big.

Yes. More than once I've had snakes trying to get in. The Alaknak fixes that.

For that price maybe we'll get a few..

Ethan pulled it off. 4pm last day of the hunt and a cow walks up on us at a new area we had good vibes about. Wanna find elk? Take a walk.. This is his last youth hunt. He’s growing up! The interaction we had with the herd was magical and it turned out that baby hoochie got em’ talking after all! Even the bull wanted to play. never had so much fun with a call.

I did. Jerry said he couldn't do 16's. Was pretty bummed. I did get 4 of the Ultima Thule bags. Those are amazing. -10 and couldn't tell.

I can't speak from experience. From some online circles I hear these are hard to beat: The Joe Reddington Mukluks (wiggys.com) I'd buy some but they dont make it in my size.
