It wasn't wishful thinking!!! Just got hit for 2 elk tags. The two I thought were in the Bonus Round.

Going to have to change your name to 4TAGS. Congrats.

I for one am realistic. I know how the draw works and I look at the BP reports every year. I know that we averaged out to 9 pts and the hunt we put in for started at 8 in the BP round and was guaranteed with 9 the last two years. I also said originally that there could have been a big point creep(this has gotten me before) or I possibly screwed up the app.(this has never happened before). But, I would like to think some of the guys that say they should also be in the BP round are correct. That means we still have a small sliver of hope.

Every time I think they have the draw figured out, something happens. I guess we wait.

Ok. I was just curious if you knew for a fact. I don't look on FB for this. I was fairly certain something had gone sideways because my wife and kid should have easily been in the bonus round. But, I've seen crazier things happen.

Mind sharing how you know this?

I'm hoping it's not done and/or I didn't screw up the application. My son and wife should be in the Bonus Round for the elk hunt I put them in for. I have no hits so far. ??? Unless there was some massive point creep again this year.

I am sure a lot of this is true Knothead, but the WEATHER???? There are a lot of things I would miss, but I would NEVER miss 100+ for 6+ months out of the year. I always tell people, I can put more clothes on, but there are only so many I can take off. Also wouldn't miss the traffic.

Anybody have a trusted gunsmith? Preferably in the north valley. I need a trigger worked on. Inherited a Winchester Model 70 in 7mm WSM when my dad passed. He liked to work on his own guns and this thing has a hair trigger on it. A little too light for my taste. Now it has developed an issue where it has actually fired when I flip the safety off. Definitely need to get that fixed. Thank you.

Shot my last two bulls with the 1.5". I heard the 1st one drop just out of sight. Went maybe 60 - 70 yards. The one in my avatar might have gone 100 yds. I will say this, I shot them both behind the shoulder, through the lungs and neither was a pass through. The broadhead was just under the skin on the far side. I mention it because to a lot of guys, a complete pass through is very important.

Turned my archery tag in Friday. The guy said I was the 2nd one that day.

As of right now, only that area north of 89 is open. Most of the unit and the 67 are closed. You can't even get to where I want to hunt. Guess I should have made my reasoning more clear. I drew in the bonus round and had Pointguard. I will just go another year when there are no fire issues and I know I can get to where i want to hunt.

They were so kind as to open up the White Sage fire area to hunting. Going to Game and Fish tomorrow to turn in my 12A archery tag. Try again next year or the year after.

Already decided to turn in my 12A Archery Tag...not that I would have a choice. Glad I bought Pointguard.

Totally agree with this. The Game and Fish's MO is to make something an option for a few years, then it becomes mandatory. They did this with the Portal.

Dall Sheep in Alaska has been at the top of my list since I was a kid growing up in NY reading Outdoor Life and Peterson's Hunting mags. #2 has always been Kudu on a South Africa safari.

Watch out for the freakin homeless camps. I never saw one in 20 years, then this past year, I ran into two seperate camps. One south of Williams was right where I camped in 2018 and 2019. Talked to a guy that said Ash Fork is full of them. It's a shame the Forest Service doesn't do anything about it.

Went up to 6A the last two days to get away from work. Was shocked at the lack of bugles. I think last week might have been the best week, with the cold snap. Back to warm. Heard one half hearted bugle Sunday morning about 9am. After that, it was all before light. Didn't even hear many at night. Weird. That being said, the last couple days are always my favorite. Only die-hards left.

This point creep is getting ridiculous. I have 8 pts and that was enough to draw the archery Kaibab hunt last year. Looking like it wasn't enough this year. Was counting on it since the whole family got skunked on elk tags this year.
