I used one of them bone collector slate calls for the purrs and yelps. Also used the bone collector crow call which worked pretty good for locating. Bought 2 of the $10 decoys from cabelas, one hen and one jake.

I got drawn for my first spring tom hunt this year in 4a/4b for the April 23rd start. I was able to call this nice tom in on Sunday.

The new year started off pretty gloomy until the clouds broke around 8 am. Wanted to get my buddy his first Archery Javelina before I got mine. Went to my honey hole and within 2 minutes we were in the middle of the herd. By 9 am he had shot his first pig and I was able to get mine as well. Pretty good start off to a New Year. Just hope there are more tags involved this year.

I was up at the North end of 20B this weekend archery deer hunting and saw tons of sign about 20 miles in off the Wagoner road.

I have been very fortunate to find a hot spot the last few years that nobody hunts. I spotted 3 pigs around 8:15 and by 8:30 I was surrounded by almost 30. I was tagged out and back to the truck by 9:00. I would like to share my spot with a first time archery youngster to help him or her have success. This is an Archery only area, sorry no guns.

I was finally able to get it done on a very quiet rut this year. The bulls stopped by 7am and wouldn't respond to calls the first week. The second week the bulls are still not talking well past 7am and the forest service decided to do a burn in the area causing the mornings to be very smoky and putting the elk on even a higher alert. I sat a couple different water holes that had some small bulls come in and finally decided to let it fly on this guy on Sunday night before the storms rolled in. These are the best pictures I got due to it being late at night for picture taking. Got some more pictures.

I only have 4 pts. Then again it could be that I have had 3 rifle tags in 25 years.

I have had 3 rifle tags in the past 21 years so there is plenty of chances getting drawn without high bonus points. Here is the goat I got 2 years ago and none of my hunts were guided.

I say stick with the rifle tag! I have had 3 rifle tags in 18 years. Put in by yourself, I feel it increases your odds just a bit.
