Spent the morning chasing ducks, man it was tough I didn't realize they were so jumpy. And the foliage really makes it hard to see them before they see you. I missed a green wing teal that gave me an easy shot on the first tank. Hit the coot behind him for my first duck ever so I'm happy with it. Spent the rest of the day spooking ducks off tanks. Learned a ton, have lots of respect for you duck hunters and am determined to get back out there next weekend and get some nice ducks. Thanks for all the tips!

Thanks Big browns I am definitely taking my bow just in case. Maybe I will have more luck than the last two weekends when I was focused on deer.

Thanks Wampus, I picked up 24 used decoys yesterday also with the intent of trying to hunt them that way as it seems more exciting once I figure out where and when to do that and what else I will need. Being able to ID waterfowl is something I am concerned about and have read the game and fish regs on limits and have been looking at the posts on here to get more familiar with them. Right now I will just be happy with aiming at a flying duck.

Talked to my brother and he said the primer has to be loaded from the breech in Utah and the ultimate is a bolt action but I didn't read it online anywhere so I'm going to talk to the dwr tomorrow to make sure before I pick one up

What did you read about the ultimate in Utah? I thought I had researched it before I bought mine and it was legal? Just curious because that's gonna break my heart if I ever draw and can't use i have family who live in Utah and hunt muzzy and to me that it wasn't allowed also I hope I'm wrong because that will be the one I pick up.

I am doing some research whenever I have a free moment because I am going to purchase a muzzleloader in the off season and was thinking of getting the Thompson Bone collector or the encore f/x . Anyone have any experience or feedback on these? I would love to get the Ultimate but I will be putting in for hunts in Utah also and from what I have read you cant use it up there. figured I would just add to this thread rather than starting a new one with the same title
