Awesome for you!!! I wish it were that easy for me. I guess each unit is different.

I can't stress enough getting away from quad roads. Fence lines usually get picked up by ranchers right away as well. In my experience, park where it doesn't look like a "shed" zone and hike 2 miles in. In all my years shed hunting I've only found 3-4 near a road. Good luck!

So sorry for your loss. Heartbreaking story. Is the lion being tested for Rabies?

Hunting with an order of protection - Questions/Thoughts needed
Azshedgirl replied to naturegirl's topic in The Campfire
What the heck did I just read!!? If you can hunt alone, kill and pack out a bull all on your own ... You should be able to handle a possible ex siting with ease. -
I can say the elevation was WAY lower than anything I've found so far. He wasn't really anywhere near where the trail camera is, which is why is was shocked. As the crow flies not far, but for me it would take me 2 days to travel where he went. It just shows me his migration pattern is very sporadic.

I will be looking for his other one tomorrow. I was a bit taken back at finding him in this area, and it changes a lot for my routine. I'll find him dang it.

Oh geez. Anywho...... To answer the original question. I shoot my bow ( the heartbreaker) glass with the hubs when possible, go on most of the hunts, scout areas. But no I haven't hunted anything, just hike A LOT. I like to study the animals and take pics when I can. Can't say I won't ever hunt, but as of now I have not.

I've never actually calculated how many pounds I find. I probably should because now I'm curious ha. The quads irritate me, but makes NO impact on what I find. They may pick up 2 off the road, to my 8 in the canyon. It does bug me that they disturb the animals. I shed hunt all year long because I know there are PLENTY out there that lazy people are not willing to go in and get, let alone in summer heat. Sheds are awesome to find, doesn't have to be a fresh brownie to get me excited

Came across this a few days ago while hiking. There was an eagle eating this turkey. Not sure if the Eagle killed it or what?
-
My guess is he may have knocked it during the rut. There is a pretty big chunk on the base.

Yes!! Kind of a freak of nature really. I had been in the area about 2 weeks prior, then went back and found the deer shed by surprise. But all the bucks I have seen are still packing so???

Been a little bit of a slow season for me so far. The Bulls are just in weird places this year. Here is what I have so far.

I agree 100%! Saw the same thing where I was too. Such a shame. People need to get off the quads and try walking a few miles in their boots.- 48 replies

I don't think too many are faint of heart on here.... I'm not anyway. PB and J's all around? I'm starving too

I do not leave anything in the forest ever! I clean up everyone else's crap. I do not agree with people that leave blinds and stands out, but i would never take it. I have called Forrest services, you know what happens? Nothing. Firstcoueswas110: that makes me LOL. Can't I do both? Now go make me a sandwich!!!
