Took a trip to here this weekend. Anyone know where this is?
-
Yes, it is the green river. We caught a few good fish such as this brown. I had a brown about 23 or 24 inches long but didn't get him in the boat. This was a business trip. My boat only caught 5 to 8 fish each day. But there was another boat who caught in the 20's each day. We used flies and also spinning rods. Was a wonderfull trip.

That deer in the second picture looks pretty good. It looks like they still have a good amount to grow. They better hurry with only 3 to 4 weeks left. Great pics. -
We worked our tail off today and found 14 Coues. 4 of which were bucks. They were little bucks but still good to see. I'm hoping that when the rut swings in to play the big boys will come out from hiding. Is this usually the case, that the big bucks show up when the rut comes? By the way: All the does I have seen with fawns in the last few weeks had twin fawns. Its good to see that. Thanks

Spent the Day out looking

Yeah I have the december hunt. You always read these stories where the big bucks come out of hiding when the rut comes into play. But how relaible is this? I'm looking to shoot a good coues this year. I have much more time to scout and hunt than normal and I'm not sure if I can count on more bucks coming out from hiding or if I should look in new areas. I hope this makes more sense, thanks. -
Four Peaks Wilderness Area
CouesFanatic replied to CouesFanatic's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
hmm. I'm not too familiar with that area. But i'm on the north road that goes all the way up. -
I drove into four peaks for the first time tonight. Looks like some good, lush, green territory. But does this area have Coues, or is it too low?

10x50 or 12x50 for for glassing coues?
CouesFanatic replied to kphunter's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I agree with gettiing a tripod. Using a tripod will increase the deer you see by 80%. But I would probably go with the 10x50's. It really depends on what type of terrain you are hunting. If you need more power go with it. But remember the actual land you see on the hill will be less in the 12's, but you will have a closer view. So i'd go with whaever you think is best for the area you are hunting. -
I spent some time up in 22 this weekend and was not too impressed with sign, or lack of. I know I still have a lot of time but i'f anyone can point me in a direction, thanks. I was thinking to check out Mnt Graham, Bushnell Tanks and East of Rye. Tell me what you think. Thanks

Anyone ever hunted this hunt? Was it crowded? Is the population of Coues low?

Just a pic
CouesFanatic replied to CouesFanatic's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I got him with a rifle. Well, opening morning my dad and I set up and glassed on a ridge only to find a few does and too many hunters. We hunted in the same area down a ridge or two that evening. We had about the same results. The next morning we decided to hunt a different area we had found while scouting. Before light we climbed up on the end of a ridge to glass a huge valley area. We glassed for about 25 minutes and didn't see much but a few trucks. All of a sudden 300 yards away there were two does moving through the ocotillo. We watched them for a minute and then went back to glassing. I was glassing and my dad looked back at the does. The does were gone and this buck was standing there looking at us ready to bolt. I got the gun ready and took the shot. We only needed one shot and he was down. A good ending to a father and son hunt. -

I took video of this deer through a spotting scope. I don't have a connection from the video cam to the computer yet so I had to put it on the tv and take a picture of the screen. I am gunna buy the cords and program necessary to get still frames off the video but I haven't gotten to it yet. When I do, the pictures will be clearer and I will post them here.
