    Finally got one!!!

I dropped her off with Tbasix Taxidermy yesterday for a tanning, and was really happy with how nice and honest Dan and Gail Tout were. I will be giving them a lion or any sort of animal I want to rug in the future for sure!
  2. Well, as some of you know I started a thread the night before I went calling last time and I really jinxed myself, so this time I decided to hold off. My friend, Tyler, is a master caller (at least I think he is) and we went out today and didn't have anything come in for the first 2 stands. we got to the 3rd and it was a canyon that we have called before, and we decided to make a loop and peak over the ridge and set up instead of walking through the bottoms. we got set up, with the caller about 15 yards out and the spinny thing about 20 yards out, and started the calling sequence. I had my Beneli M1 (12 gauge) and Tyler had my Mossberg MVP 223 so I was pointing out my effective range, and he agreed. about 1 minute into the setup I thought I heard a rock tumble to my right, but when a bird has those first couple flaps of its wings, it can sound like a rock, so I didn't think much if it. there is a little rock outcropping it front of me about 10 yards, and some grass behind it and then the tree that the spinny thing is in. well I see the top of a gray fox's back dart across from right to left and I didn't get a shot off. I thought he was gone but instinctively I said to Tyler, "FOX!!!" and I think the fox heard me and he stopped in the most perfect gap at 20 yards, by then I already had the gun up and so I quickly brought the gun to his head and slapped the trigger and at 20 yards with a full choke you would think he would be done, but no.......he hoped off the "cliff", out of sight. so I wanted to go and make sure he wasn't getting away. Tyler said "No. We aren't done yet...." so I tried to sit patiently, and we weren't being very still or quiet when I see Tyler put his gun up and then I saw the fox, so I put my gun up too. the fox was at about 50 yards and he was looking towards us but at the spinny thing. when I drew I hit Tyler's arm and knocked him off, but then he told me to not move, so I didn't. I had the gun on the fox and I thought it was the one I just shot so I asked if he wanted me to take him, and he said no then "BOOM!!!" I could tell it was a perfect lung shot and saw the fox drop in to the manzanita brush. we waited a few more minutes then headed our way down the hill, we found 1 fox about 15 yards from where I shot one, and then there was blood everywhere where Tyler shot at his and we then found Tyler's. we had pulled off a Gray Fox double, one fox with a shotgun and one with a rifle. the best part is that my fox didn't have that many holes in her, the fur is perfect. we celebrated and went on to do a few more stands but to no avail. but that didn't matter, I was grinning from ear to ear, the rest of the day, and would find myself laughing on stands as I would recall the recent events and how cool it was. I can now say that I am truly hooked on varmint calling! thanks for reading, my fox is the one on the bottom in the first 2 pics and the one on the right in the 3rd pic.

They are starting to hit CC

ok well, I really am done defending what I was relaying from a close friend, and I am not directing blame, I will take it if I am wrong, my dad has 15 bonus pts and we will see how many people with m.o.s get drawn, forget I said anything, but don't be calling my friends "idiots" because they heard something, and told me, which I told you, I wouldn't come out and call any of you idiots for saying something on this site unless it was vulgar and inappropriate! good luck to all of you in the draws and I will tell you now, I don't expect my father nor I to draw!

They are starting to hit CC

I am saying that for some reason that azgfd is running thru the cc apps before the m.o. apps

Not sure who your source is, but he is an idiot. that's not cool, I don't really know who you are, but he is one of the most honest guys you will meet, others on this site can vouche for that!

They are starting to hit CC

I am hearing that the contractor that did the draw for azgfd is going through the apps that used a cc, and the money orders may never get hit!

  9. what you must take into consideration is if you are willing to accept it if you spook that deer, I would personally rather take the long shot than try to get closer and spook him, mostly because I am confident that I can make those shots. When you choose to take the long shot(what I mean is 300-700 yards) you are increasing your chances of killing that deer by a lot, just for the simple fact that todays technology is the way it is. yes, with long range shooting you don't have that "experience" with the animal but you still have a good amount of satisfaction. You should consider getting that 270 out to the range and seeing how far you can shoot accurately on a consistent basis. I also prefer long range shooting because it is rare for me to see a good deer, and when I see one, I don't want to mess around....... just my .02 ps. I give anyone props for going after anything with a long bow (even though I shoot recurves)

    Finally got one!!!

Have him mount it! [img=http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/public/style_images/club_3_4/attachicon.gif]grey fox mount.jpg is that one of his mounts, and I really don't have the funds for that he did mention 1k for a full body mount with habitat, so many another time he gave me a really good price for the skin/ tan when another taxidermist quoted me $365 for the same thing I am also going to have cole van winkle do the skull. Sven at Wildlife Wings Design will do a full mount for $350, includes some habitat. You'll never have another first fox. His # is 623-451-7836. You can save up while he's doing it . and he did the one that you posted the pic of?

    Which Pack??

yeah I do the same now...... I looked pretty stupid..... to address your ?s- the outdoorsmans packs are made in the USA, and I am pretty sure they are completely assembled in phoenix. you could always call them, they would love to answer your ?s
  21. PatrickJr

    Found a few.

A FEW??? YA THINK!!! that's a truckload...... I guess you could say that they are officially hittin the ground. congrats
  22. I worked for a guy at a reloading shop and he had to put all of his primers in a safe that was could withstand fire for 24 hours, because he had all his powder in a shed 10 feet away, if he didn't put the primers in the safe, it would be illegal. I would not put anything except for self defense ammo in magazines in your safe. if youre worried about it, put it in a lockable cabinet or buy a little stack-on safe. the stack-ons are cheap and wont become a bomb for sure...

just looked at the tenzing cf13, and all I can say it wow, and I thought that the KUIU and Outdoorsmans Packs were expensive.....
