and I think I have reached a decison...
PatrickJr replied to macknnc's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
your success in 33 depends on how hard your willing to work for it.... yeah some guys get lucky and see a buck off the road, but if you want a "respectable" deer then you will still need to work for it. i hiked in over 2 miles last year from a road that is an hour of driving off of pavement and had great success.....stay away from reddington pass, and around biosphere, or oracle. these spot are always flooded with hunters(as previously mentioned) if you want a really good buck, i have a buddy that guides in 33 and last year he guided a guy that shot a 140! -
100 grains of Triple 7 and a 250 SST sabot out of a TC Encore this has ruined numerous pigs' days and we tested it on a coyote and there was chunks of lungs all over the ground where he was standing, and of course he dropped right away... this load is good to 230.....easy.....

all i will say is that if you dont draw, you can pick up a leftover Unit 33 Muzzleloader tag that goes for either species......but the 36s are really good for finding "representative" deer, and they are quite plentiful, they do have big deer but of course they are harder to find.

tell him i said congrats! i was also out there on saturday. I was refereeing and it was hardn for me to watch these kids miss birds that they would have hit if it was a good day, We ran 5 squads through and only had 1 25 straight, so he did very well! as long as he sticks with it, he will win a championship or two I hope that you can send him to presott on june 10th (i think) for the SCTP Western regionals for trap. I wont be there, but i will be up in flagstaff for the regional sporting clays shoot.

On Saturday, I competed in the SCTP State Sporting Clays Commissioners Cup up at Ben Avery. I was on a squad that has a total of 3 shooters, but we normally shoot with another squad during competition. well, there were so many kids signed up for this shoot, that we (my squad) had to shoot with 2 other squads! this made up a total of 9 kids shooting together, we knew it was going to be a long day. We had some trouble with some P.I.T.A. Refs but we got through it, I had trouble on a few stations (we shot at 10 stations and you shoot 10 birds at each) and on those 2 stations I shot a 5 and a 6, the rest of the stations I got 8s, 9s, or 10s. My squad ended up with a total of 227/300 and I got an 82/100, with my other squadmates getting a 72/100 and a 73/100. we started shooting at 9 and didn't finish until 11:45. We dropped off the scoresheet, and we checked the standings, some other Junior Varsity squad had njust posted a 229. we knew the best we could do is 2nd. that's what we ended up with, there was 22 JV squads and we got 2nd. There was 60+ JV shooters and I placed 1st as an individual! I wish that those refs wouldn't have screwed us(because they cheated us out of 4 birds that may have cost us the title), but it was a good day. If it weren't for this shoot, id be turkey hunting. Please post if you had a child compete in this event, I would love to hear. last year we placed 3rd in a lower division and I didn't even place as an individual, but we are climbing fast, on to VARSITY! the 1st pic is my individual trophy (I don't know why my dad is hiding) the 2nd is our squad honor, and both my squadmates had already left Thanks for reading!

im up for a CWT shoot! if you have shot at TTSC, this other new facility that the county runs is great because of a different background. If we get enough people that would commit for the shoot, then we could do it.....i have connections inside of that range.... my dad and i would shoot for sure!!!!! We could do like 50 Trap and 50 skeet....

Shotshell reloading worth the effort?
PatrickJr replied to bigorange's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
It depends if you shoot a lot.... if you want practice loads and you shoot a lot, then reloading is the way to go.....if you want to have competition shells, then buying new is best. My dad can load a box of 12 gauge for around $5, but he stockpiled his components when they became available.....my dad reloads so much that he doesn't even waste his time by putting the ammo in boxes....he puts them in 5 gallon buckets we must have 3 12 gauge buckets and 1 20 gauge buckets along with close to a dozen flats of factory. my father likes to use reclaimed shot and clays or international powder. we only use "non-ribbed" shells like double a's. nitros, premiers, and peters we have a p&w, and 3 mecs one mec is a progressive that is going to be up on this site soon.... he also likes to go into the garage and have a fan blowing on him and "zone out" hope this helps! -
what are you doing when you are in the bathroom? EUROPEAN!!! did you hear about the guy whose whole left side was cut off? he's all right now. it's not that the man did not know how to juggle, he just didn't have the balls to do it. i'm glad I know sign language, it's pretty handy. i couldn't quite remember how to throw a boomerang, but eventually it came back to me. my friend's bakery burned down last night. Now his business is toast. did you hear about the guy who got hit in the head with a can of soda? he was lucky it was a soft drink. i used to have a fear of hurdles, but I got over it.

I normally will go through only 10-15 shells(assuming I even see a limit of doves) but if it is a bad day I will have to open a second box depending on where you live, there are many SCTP programs across the state, there is probably close to 20 teams! so when your kids are old enough (9 is the starting age) get them an 20 gauge 11-87 and let them go!

Mark Kuhn better not have taken any of the ladies into my spot! JK! I caught him and Jerry Perry in my spot last year when I had the same tag!

Thanks! I will be at the trap event, but not competing, my dad will be refereeing a field. I hope he does well and has a good squad!

2nd row from the left, 2 phone down from the top, a Samsung they didn't take our phones now that I am in high school.... and you are required to finish the test by the end of the school day, they mention that when they prompt you. it normally takes 3 hours and then we go to lunch, but if you need more time you get it. AIMS sucks!
