Buy the swarovski's! And if for some reason they dont work out for you, there are plenty of people who will buy them from you for a slightly discounted price. Its really a no brainer. Rich

I believe I know that mountain! I camped on that mountain during the first hunt, very steep! Congrats on a nice buck. Rich

I was afraid the archery elk would start on the 12th instead of the 19th.

Anyone Heard From The Super 80

I agree, you will look back at this hunt sitting around the campfire and have some great laughs for years to come. Everytime I try to picture the whole thing I start laughing and I wasn't even there. -

Thats a tough one, unfortunately its gonna hurt for a while. Just get that 100"er in Mexico and it will soon be forgotton. Maybe not by all of us , but you'll at least be able to get some sleep at night. We all have stories where we messed up, thats hunting. Wheres the pics? Congrats on the buck, a 93"er is nothing to sneer at or even an 89"er for that matter. -

I like the last two. I really dont think it will be viewed by the non hunting public as anti hunting, just a nice friendly jab at our muley hunting friends. -
I want one too!!!

That's great info! I tried calling last year for the first time ever. I had a client with me in Mexico, overlooking a thick bedding area with very little glassing windows. It was around lunchtime and as we sat eating our burritos I decided I should give it a try. I had just purchased a small "rattle bag" and the small "can" and I really didn't know how to use either the right way. I hit the bag a few times and turned the can over twice and less than a minute later, with a mouthfull of burrito, there was a 97" Coues buck staring at me at the edge of the thick stuff! That buck is now hangin' on my clients wall and is a tribute to my first attempt at calling Coues! I tried it several times after that and have never had the same results......and one time there was a 105" buck laying within earshot and he never came in......but he still died so it at least didn't scare him either JIM> Maybe it was the burrito.

Anyone can catch a big carp, but it takes a real fisherman to catch a trophy bass.

Would it be possible to have one side vinyl for the print and the other side canvas for the rocks? -
Did you ever score him?

Congratulations on a beautiful buck. I'm glad you didn't give up. Some hunts are just plain rough, way to stick it out! Rich

I may have seen the same thing. On a scouting trip in 36A my friend spotted something down in a canyon, we thought it to be a mountain lion as well, but it was too dark. I thought about the jaguar explanation as well, but was never convinced. I can't say for sure it was a Jaguarundi but it makes more sense. I'd be interested to know where you saw it at, I saw this one south of the sierritas in the rolling hills. Rich

The story was a little long but congrats on your buck anyways! Yeah, tell us the story. Congrats on a fine buck. Rich

Very hot hunt! My friends and I packed in for the first couple of days of the hunt and found quite a few bucks, but no shooters. We came off of the mountain saturday afternoon a little disappointed, but not ready to give up. Sunday morning we found a couple of bucks and one of my friends decided to take one, unfortuantely he guesstimated the yardage wrong and shot over him. Oh well, thats hunting I guess. Monday and Tuesday were fruitless as well. Wednesday I decided to go back to work and started thinking about bowhunting in December. As the day went by, I started thinking about a spot I could go to after work just to give it one last go. 3:15 seemed to be too long to wait so I asked the boss for some time off. I left work at 1:30 and rushed out to my spot. Just as I was about to reach my destination I spotted the backside of a whitetail leaving the area just to my left. I ran up a little hill to see what it was and couldn't find anything. I listened quietly for a few moments and heard nothing. My gut feeling was that it had to be a buck. I grabbed my binoculars and tripod and began scanning the surrounding mountains and found nothing. About fifteen minutes later, I heard some noise to my left and there he was! He was trotting up a little hill and about to go over. I quickly grabbed my rifle recognizing that he was a good buck and fired. He disappeared behind a bush and that was the last I saw of him. Everything happened so quick and I knew I had placed a good shot considering the circumstances, but I was unsure If I had hit him or not. I raced up the opposite hill trying to get a better vantage point to where I last saw him. I still could not see him. I slowly made my way to the bush, trying to keep a good view of the area just in case he was still there. As I closed the distance, all kinds of thoughts were racing through my head, had I hit him? did I miss and he just ran over the other side and out of sight? I scanned the area as quick as I could, and there he was. The 115gr silvertip from my .25-06 had entered through his last few ribs on his left side and exited through his neck on the right. What a feeling! Here is a some pictures of him. What a last day buck! Thanks to all of you for your comments on what bullet to use on my new rifle, it sure took care of business! Rich.

I dont think setting up a tent or RV in a camp spot you are not occupying is the right thing to do. I understand people cant get off a couple of days early all the time, but thats the way it goes, I think you're just asking for trouble. I think it's ridiculous to think the camp is yours because you've scouted the area or spent more time in the area than the next guy. It's first come first served in my book. If some weekend warrior gets to "my spot" before me, I find another one and try to get to it earlier next year. He made the sacrifice to get there early he deserves the spot period. I wouldn't want to take a few days of my earned vacation and come to find that Joe Schmoe left a raggedy old tent just to save his spot. If your camping, thats a different story, but leaving a tent unoccupied is not camping therefore the 14 days shouldn't apply. Who knows if someone just left the tent there because its a piece of junk and didn't want to pack it back home.

I have been trying to convince myself for years to go whack some coyotes. I just can't seem to figure out what to do with them after I kill em'. Now call me yella, but I just have a hard time killing an animal I'm not going to eat. I think if I had more info on how they effect a deer herd it would put me over this hump. Thx for your input. Rich

Time to check over your list and pack er up, it's time to go huntin'! Packing in this year and I hope I remember everything. Anyone ever pack in and forget something important? If so what was it? I packed in some water and my tent last weekend and forgot to cover my tent, luckily it didn't rain. I hope thats the only thing I forget.
