    Skeeter's Getting Married!!!

Thank you to everyone for your well wishing. Today I started a new life with my wife & two boys. It is always nice to know there are people that care about you & when they all come out for you on your day you know you are blessed.

    Being patient after the shot....

I love this post Gino. I second what coocoo4coues said " practice, practice, practice". I would also like to add another bit of advice, & that is know your equipment & inspect it often. This year I had a Unit 8 archery bull tag. It was a tough hunt, & with 2 days to go a nice bull presented itself @ 58yds. I know this is going to draw some flack, but I had just ended an archery antelope hunt for which I had been practicing with a lot of confidence out to 70 yds. I was perfectly calm when I let the arrow fly as I had time to wait for him to come out from behind the tree. The arrow to my horror hit the bull in the hind leg! I was dumbfounded! I watched & listened as he ran over the ridge. Long story short, I spent the next two days trailing & never found this bull. Nothing worse than losing an animal, for sure, the next two weeks were agonizing as I thought of that bull somewhere in pain. The point of this was to tell you that after returning to camp, my buddy told me to shoot my bow in camp & see if I was shooting good, & sure enough my arrow hit the target 6" left @ 20 yds! Upon inspection, my sight was tweaked around & set my pins to the right! Again, practice, practice, take all that can go wrong with your bow out of the equation. I guarantee that was the hardest lesson I've learned & from now on I will be shooting my bow everyday in camp, & inspecting it often. Happy Holidays everyone, Jed

    older white dodge

    Yeah, definitely Denton's truck.
  5. We have had briefings & informational meetings where I work (gov't agency) about working in any of the southern units & they say that the latest trends are that encounters are They also are saying encounters with uda's can occur all the way up to I-40 as this is a popular destination for a lot of them to go back east. Bottom line-- be careful wherever you are & don't assume because you are north of Tucson you don't need to be aware of your surroundings. >>>>---> Skeeter

    White Dodge in unit 23

Guilty on both counts, hope you guys had more success than I did on the turkeys. I can't seem to fill a tag this year, sure is doing some serious damage to the old ego, lol. I was out more to spend time with the young boy with me than to kill a turkey though. BTW if you are going to drive a white dodge around units 22, or 23 you also need to have a goatee & a baseball cap. lol >>>--->Jed

    '09 archery antelope hunt

Well guys here I am 11 days into my archery antelope hunt, I got a shot today that I should have killed on, but the ole buck fever set in & well u know. ha ah My dad always said if you don't get excited you don't need to be there. Anyways I'm after this one buck only, he's not huge but he's gonna score good with mass. 3 or 4 other guys are also after him & the locals aren't helping. I've got three more days so just looking for a little encouragement I guess. Gonna hit it hard tomorrow again. thx Jed

    '09 archery antelope hunt

Well yesterday was the last day, & I have the memories of a great hunt to show. The rut was off this year from what I observed. there was only one instance in 12 days of another buck trying to steal does, & the usual does trying to run away from the bucks were almost non-existent. & like you Johnnie Blaze the wind was uncooperative. The saddest part for me is knowing that the buck I was after for 12 days is dead this morning as today is opening day of rifle season, & @ least a couple guys were watching him. Oh well back to work for a couple days & off to unit 8 Archery Bull! hopefully with better luck. Thanks for all the support guys, Jed

    RAMON'S FIRST COUES

Great Job Ramon, I agree with TJ, do yourself a favor & get yourself a journal. Write down everything everyday you go hunting so you can remember it all when you get older. I wish I had done that years ago, keep up the good work. Jed
  23. The G&F Dept actually has an 'adopt-a-catchment program' you can go on the G&F website under conservation, then water developments & read more about it. Or if you need more info you can contact the Water development Program Managers themselves. Ed Jahrke 623-236-7284, ejahrke@azgfd.gov or Joe Currie- 623-236-7867, jcurrie@azgfd.gov. As far as creating your own 'catchment I don't know the legality of that, you would have to contact the appropriate agency that owns the land. Hope this helps & please post the results if there are any more, good question. Jed
  24. I also saw a dark blue Ford ext cab truck n bound on '87 between phx & Payson, Tuesday around 5:30pm I passed u & honked in a white Dodge. Jed

Hey guys, need some advice. I am looking to buy a gps device and was wondering if you all have any suggestions as for ease of use. Just want it to help from getting lost in unfamiliar country, not any of that fancy stuff. Thx Jed
