PHENOMENAL barrels. I've got one on a "work" gun and wouldn't trade it for anything else out there. Wish I could pick this up but for the time being, bump for someone whose rifle needs a heart transplant. They don't get any better.

LOL, haven't settled on a name yet! That's something that takes a lot of thought.
-
Its also a much better draw and hold for my wrecked shoulders, the left of which undergoes partial joint replacement surgery in 2 months. This was the primary reason for buying it, even if the Ally isn't anywhere close to harsh itself. But these really are that much better.

This is the first bow I've bought in the last 10 yrs. Its a tool for killing dinner. That's how its going to be used.

Energy 35, 70lbs, 27.5DL. Haven't weighed it yet and wasn't going to, but I can if you need that info. Its lighter than the '06 BT Allegiance its replacing, probably by about half a pound. And it was pushing a 488gr arrow this afternoon 252fps.

Ordered mid-December, just arrived last Thurs while I was sweating out the flu. Freaking gorgeous. And of course, when I got to pick it up I notice Tight Spot now has a Vias quiver....

Thumb Release (Target Panic Related)
Pac8541 replied to PelaPapas's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Good topic, I'm considering moving to a back tension at least as a training aid. Not sure I want to use one hunting but I'm also open to seeing how I shoot with one. Looking at the Scott Longhorn. -
My son is begging me to keep this and sell it to him when he gets some money together so I guess I could say its sold. Sorry for those interested but thanks for taking a look.

Gauging interest because I'm not really sure I want to do this, but... For sale: 2006 Bowtech Allegiance, Realtree HD green. 70lb limbs 27.5" DL Bowtech's binary cams with smooth mods. 1 yr old string built by AZ Custom Bowstrings (BCY452X). G5 Meta peep Torqueless grip 34" ATA, 7" brace height. Spot Hogg Hogg-It Hunter, large guard, 5 pin fiber optic, sight light. QAD Ultra Pro rest in camo. Aftermarket string stop (can't remember brand). Alpine Archery Soft-Loc 5 arrow quiver. Braided sling. Package price: $500 I'm selling because my shoulders have been repaired multiple times and I've got another surgery coming up this spring. I need a bow that's easier on the draw, not that this one is difficult or abusive by any means. Its just time for me to take advantage of technological improvements and my desire to shoot more often in the off season in more "target" style venues will require something more low impact. For those not familiar with this model it is widely regarded as one of Bowtech's very best and a parent to their current line of smooth drawing bows. For as much as I'd like to keep this, I just can't afford to have 2 bows especially with what new ones cost now. I might be willing to part this out if no one is interested in the complete bow but lets see how this goes for now. Lousy photo below, I'll get better ones up in the morning. Package will be as pictured minus the arrows and stabilizers.

My 2006 ally was adjustable no draw mod swaps They did have speed mods or smooth Oops, perhaps I'm wrong. I may have been thinking about the speed/smooth mods, sorry.
-
Presmyk: I'd like to give this a few days before deciding to part it out but if it came to that, I think $300 is fair for the bare bow. Hunt1down: DL is adjustable with Bowtech mods from 26"-30." Here are some more detailed photos:

Most seasons are pretty much over with only a couple remaining in the coming months, at least for deer. I plan to hunt Jan muleys with my current rig but am in the process of ordering a new bow. Along with that comes the desire to upgrade my sight to one of the multi pin, sliding scale versions, or whatever you call them. My current is a SH Hoggit Hunter, almost 10 yrs old. Awesome sight, solid as hel! but I'd like to start shooting longer distance and the thought of a floating bottom pin for those extended ranges is appealing. So, which sights should I be looking at? Stick with SH like the Hogg Father or consider CBE's lineup? What others are out there that are worth a look? I want it to be bombproof like the SH. I like the multi-pin design because I don't want to dial for every range I may have a shot at; I like the holdover principle like my rifle scopes. CBE is attractive because I like the scale within my plane of view and on the same side as my pins but those SH's are super rugged. On the other hand, I'm not opposed to losing a little weight. Tell me what you guys are using while pushing through thick manzanita and crawling over volcanic terrain.

HUGE thanks to Maverick351 for his help with all this, and to the rest of you for all the input and suggestions. I looked at 3: the Spot Hogg Tommy, the MBG Ascent, and the CBE TEK. After handling them and weighing the pros/cons I've decided on the SH Tommy. It boils down to what makes the best compromise because there are features I liked on all of them, but not a single unit that had them all. When I prioritized what I found most important, the SH hit more points than the others while forcing me to accept some I didn't care for but ranked lower. Not sure if I'm gonna buy new or used, guess that depends on what I find and how urgently I "need" it but that's the plan for now. Thanks again for all your help.

I've got the Peloton 240 hoody. The thing is awesome. I literally wore it all day, every day during 9 days of the late archery hunt up in 22N. Everything from the junipers of the west end to the ridiculous manzanita north of Star Valley. It was warm, windproof, and I didn't wind up with any holes. It wasn't any noisier than something other than fleece going through the bushes but it also didn't catch on stuff either. Normal moving around didn't seem noisy either; it was a non-issue, practically speaking. I love the damned thing and plan to use it throughout the year. It does need a base layer to really be warm, and for that reason I plan to buy a 210 Merino at some point. But with a Patagonia puffy underneath it, I never needed anything else unless it rained and I had temps down to 18*. The windproofness of it alone allows it to outperform merino and it dries faster.

Absolutely zero issues with mine and those shooting them in my circle. After picking the correct sight tape I was amazed at how accurate the adjustments were. It sounds like you really want a Spot Hogg though I'm trying to keep an open mind about either. While I'm partial to the SH, that's largely due to my familiarity with them. My plan is to look at both like, actually in my hands so I can feel the weight, how well each slider moves, the adjustments... I'll make a decision after that. I'm not in a huge hurry since the bow I have yet to order will likely take more than a few weeks to arrive. I don't want to be a "this is the best, there's nothing else out there," guy; I just want the best tool for the job. And extreme precision is part of my job description so I'm kinda keen on things like tolerances and exactness of adjustment. Anxious to see them side by side.
-
And I've been leaning heavily towards another Spot-Hogg (I have the Hogg-It Hunter now), the Tommy Hogg specifically. But in looking at the features and options available on the MBG sights, I'm really impressed. I guess my only concern would be are the MBG sights as rugged and well built (precise) as what SH puts together. I find it hard to believe anything can be as bulletproof as a Spot Hogg.

Ya know, I did draw that one in both 31 and 34 flavors and I preferred the E35 over both. I haven't placed the order yet and intend to test shoot them all again but at the moment the Energy series gets the nod. I've never felt a 70lb bow draw with such ease and hold so effortlessly. This next shoulder operation is a partial joint replacement. With that in mind, the intellectual side says stick with that. The emotional side however, wants an Impulse or an 80 lb E35 like this mornings test. We'll see who wins...😜
-
Hey Eric. Gonna do the Elite E35. The smooth draw sold me especially with my shoulders the way they are. Got another surgery coming up in April. I drew 113's 80 pounder this this morning (thanks Scott!) but the reasonable side of me says 70 is enough. Might play with arrow weights a little this spring.
-
Anyone have an 80lb Elite E35, preferably at 28" DL, give or take, that I can test draw? Gonna buy one really soon and would like to see what that feels like. The 70lb drew so easily it's got me thinking about jumping to 80lbs.

Thanks Vinnie, looking for the 210. -
Don't they have a 3D course up there too? Thought I'd heard something about that. Never tried it but it sounds like fun.
