    Who's shooting feathers?

Giving it a try. Got some samples from Ozark Feathers, shield and parabolic in both 3 and 4 inch lengths. Fletched up a few in 3 fletch and 4 fletch to see what they'll do. Sure look nice! As long as they fly well I think this is what I'm gonna run this year. I'll probably take an arrow tube with a half dozen vane fletched shafts as well but I'm really digging this idea.

I don't know what you guys have for blaze orange panels but I found this also. Someone on Rokslide posted a link and for $12 I figured I couldn't go wrong. Last year's scouting trip for the late elk archery season happened to be during a late rifle deer season. It was a little unnerving sitting on a tank at dawn and seeing gun hunters cruising into position on the ridge across from me. I had no orange on; totally my fault for putting myself in that position but it won't repeat itself this year. This thing velcros on at each corner and weighs nothing. Simple, effective idea. Its a company called Orange Aglow.

Absolutely no problem. You are more than welcome to take a look. I'm way out in QC though but I'd be happy to arrange a time to meet when I'm in Phx. I'll pm my number and we'll set it up. These stays are the "normal back" version which has some curve to them. Like I mentioned above, I'll try arrows for stays at some point and see how it feels. I figure to use this for my back country fly fishing and since I won't need to consider carrying a ton of weight for that, it may be just the ticket I was hoping for.

That is a 24" hunting platform with composite stays. At some point I'm gonna try running arrows but for the time being, this is pretty comfortable. The torso pads are way softer on this version than the former Duplex. And I got a small belt this time versus the med that was on the last one. I found myself constantly trying to tighten the med belt so I sized down this time. The small and mini pouches are mounted on the belt and the large on the side of the bag. I think I'll pick up a guide lid, spotting scope pouch, and a few smaller ones in either fusion or typhon. Leaning towards the former cuz I love that pattern and kyrptic has always felt like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. I dunno.

    New Grip

Got my new Torqueless grip in yesterday's mail. This is the 2nd one I've had but the first for the E35. At the time I bought the bow, Elite's V-grip wasn't available in any of the camo colors so I've been shooting the factory side plates. I noticed a couple months ago that I seemed to have trouble getting consistency out of my follow through. I think it all boiled down to the back of the grip and its shape. Had great success with Torqueless before so I threw one on here. And to top it all off, Dave makes them crazy beautiful. I know there are other aftermarket grips out there, these are the only ones I've tried. But if you want to improve your shooting immediately, I can't think of a better investment other than tuning.

    New Kuiu

These seem to fit very well. I normally fluctuate between 31-33 at the waist but ordered the 34 Chinook last year. Clearly too big but I was short on time when they arrived. This year I bought the 32's and they're very comfortable. I tried them on over the peloton zip on stuff and no problems. I'll still run a belt with them regardless but they feel true to size. I wouldn't go bigger unless you normally need room in the thighs.

    New Kuiu

The down sweater definitely kept me warm even with its minimal fill weight. But let's keep things in perspective: this IS Arizona and although it does in fact get cold (it was 18* one morning north of Star Valley), it certainly isn't Idaho or Montana. What I lacked was versatility. This thing is reputed to breathe extremely well while also offering pit zips. And its synthetic so I don't have that problem with down getting wet. I was really close to ordering the First Lite Uncompahgre, and I still might just because, but I don't know that it'd do the same things I'm asking of it. The Alpine Pants are pretty awesome too. LOVED the utility of the Chinooks; pocket layout, hip vents, and knee pads were all incredibly appreciated over rocky, hard ground. But 2 things told me I needed to replace them: 1) I bought them too big thinking I'd need to layer under them more than I did and, 2) they were a bit too warm for where I was and the activity level I engaged in. I figure with the Alpines I can be a little cooler with nothing more than a lightweight merino bottom on and by adding the new Peloton 200 zip on bottoms, I can now add warmth if I need it with the same ease as the merino layer. These zip on/off things are game changers for me. I even used them at work over the winter. FL may have a reputation for better wool but that doesn't trump the ease and utility the Kuiu's offer. I'll still buy some of that new Aerowool stuff though. Really wanna try that out.

    Kuiu Guide gloves

Verde, size Med. Used during last year's late archery hunt so, total of maybe 6 days of use. I swapped between these and the Peloton liners. Minor dirt stains on the palms but zero holes or abrasion and I washed them in Nikwax DWR treatment once last fall. Well broken in and soft, I really like these either alone or with a light liner like the pelotons or merino. No insulation so feel is really good; I like that I can feel the trigger on whatever I'm shooting. Only selling so I can buy another pair in Vias. $40 shipped. **EDIT TO ADD: my hand measures 8" around the knuckles and 7.5" from base of palm to middle finger tip. These fit perfectly by themselves meaning, my fingers went to the ends with no floppy fingertips or bunching of material in the palm. They were a slight bit snug with a peloton liner but still retained very good dexterity. They'd be even better with a merino liner, super versatile and way better than a thicker glove for warmth.

    Bino harness

Great photos, thanks a ton for taking the time. I did notice in looking at both websites and product videos that the FHF appears to sit flatter, especially when compared to the AGC unit. At the very least, I'm probably going to buy his ballistic RF pouch since the one I have is an older Leica Rangemaster and selling it for a smaller unit really doesn't make too much sense to me. For the moment I managed to pick up another Kuiu for cheap and I'm going to see what I can do to modify the upper strap system to support the case and binos. This would solve the problem of it slipping down after I remove the optic but I also like the additional small pockets on the FHF and AGC. So it may just be an experiment. Again, thanks for putting pictures with the words, helps a lot.

    AAE Stealth Max Vanes

You 4-fletch guys: maybe its a stupid question but do 4, 2-inch vanes create more drag at distance (>50yds) than say, 3, 3.6 inch vanes? Are you experiencing more drop due to the 4th vane? I say 3.6 inch because that's the length of a very popular Flex Fletch vane and one that I've had very good results with as a 3 fletch.

    Bino harness

I've heard some comments about the FHF being noisy due to the fabric. Have you found that to be the case? Guys have complained about anything contacting or rubbing against it causing enough noise to spook game. I looked through their website and will buy his Ballistic Rangefinder Pouch for my older Leica 1200. Love the dude's experience and would feel great spending my money with a guy like that. But if his stuff blows my only shot at a late bull, I'd have to pass. On the other hand, maybe that'd be more about my own bad decision than his fabric choices. Edit: You wouldn't happen to be in the east valley, would you? I'd like to see one in person.

    Bino harness

Anyone tried modifying a Kuiu so that the harness attaches directly to the case? Maybe the bino strap could then feed through a buckle. I'm thinking this because one of the things I DO like about the Kuiu is the direction the top flap opens. Opening to the front leaves the compartment open for reinsertion. Going with the AGC KISS model is probably the route I'd need to go since my rangefinder is an older Leica that's too big to fit in that front pouch on the CUB but I really like the zippered side pouches instead of mesh and elastic. Those side pockets on the Kuiu are almost unusable for me cuz they're so tight. Taking a wind checker out still requires 2 hands to get it back in. And of course, the AGC KISS has elastic and mesh... wtf. Seems like my ideal product has yet to be produced.

    Rem 700 trigger

Swapped out a trigger from my personal precision rifle so this one's for sale. Jewell HVR with top safety and bolt release. This is a drop-in replacement for a factory trigger and requires the use of the factory trigger pins, bolt stop, and bolt stop spring. Its currently set at 3lbs but it is adjustable in weight from 1.5ozs to 4.5lbs. Terrific trigger and in VERY good condition. I am a Remington Certified 700 armorer and this has been meticulously cared for and maintained. $175 shipped.

    Rem 700 trigger

The offer to install is open to all, thought that may sweeten the deal Getting the pin, spring, and bolt stop to line up can be a little tricky for someone not familiar.

    Rem 700 trigger

Moved to a Timney 510 for the wider shoe. I like the feel of it better and it matches my other rifle so there's no difference between the 2. The Jewell's are awesome but it boils down to mostly personal preference. BTW, I can do the install if you're local.

    Bino harness

Totally convinced, thanks for all the input. I particularly like the fact that the binos attach to the harness independently of the load bearing straps. That's one thing I didn't like about the Kuiu item. I was constantly tightening the chest strap because the bino compartment would sneak its way down my chest every time I removed the binos. And putting them back in always seemed to require both hands because of that. I did like the matching camo cuz I'm geeky like that. I'll be the one you guys are making fun of around a campfire one day...
