    Is this a larger lion?

Looks like an average female which is big enough
  4. A couple of weeks ago I called in a male pronghorn. He ended up bedding down in the area right in front of me. I figured what the heck I'll just keep calling and use him as live bait in case there was a lion around.

New AR-15 gets broken in... kinda

It's crazy what adrenaline can do for any animal that gets shot.

    It has been bugging me…

@PatrickJr, my comment wasn't about putting an animal out of its misery which is what you are talking about. I'm referring to the idiots that are trying to shoot WAY out of their skill level and wing the animal in the leg etc after several shots. Also I can honestly say I have never had to shoot an animal more than once but I go to great lengths to make sure I don't have to. The most important thing besides using proper caliber, windage/elevation calculations, and equipment is stalking the animal. From my experience the yahoos that take multiple shots over 300 yards are also the same idiots that are too lazy to hike 100 yards past the radius of their truck. Let's be honest here, laziness is a big reason for shooting outside of one's known range and skill level as others have previously mentioned.

If you can't kill your target in 1 shot you shouldn't be shooting unless it is self defense plain and simple. Those people that go out and couldn't hit the broadside of a barn shouldn't be hunting. If this applies to you get on that range and learn proper marksmanship because when you don't you make all hunters look terrible. I know I haven't posted much and this may offend some but its the truth.

Poaching a lion - updated with pics

The juvenile cats definitely had what can still be considered spots which would have made hunting any of them illegal. Whether or not they were old enough to survive on their own doesn't really matter if you are in jail for violating the law. As a hunter if I saw any sort of dark/black spots on an immature lion I'm standing down every time and that includes shooting the mother. I don't think we know for sure what the photographed guy was doing and shouldn't necessarily pass judgement. Game cameras are pretty easy to steal so unless nature girl's cam was chained to a tree I doubt he was trying to steal it otherwise he would have. Now regarding the mask that also isn't necessarily suspicious. I wear I camo mask all the time when stalking prey. After the missed shot he probably figured "what the heck I already spooked them" and took it off. After letting things settle down a bit he could've have put the mask on again to resume hunting. Not saying this guy was innocent or guilty just pointing out there are multiple theories that explain his actions.

New AR-15 gets broken in... kinda

I'm not really surprised looking back on my time in the AF. We trained a lot with the Army and those guys told us stories all the time of lighting up Iraqis with NATO 5.56 (specifically M855). 8 rounds to the chest and the insurgents would get up and run off. With that being said yotes rarely run off when I hit them with Buffalo Bore 69 grain hp; however, it destroys the fur.
