They mostly wont have to store it very long it generally takes 1 to 1.5 weeks to get your game processed. I would speak with the butcher and see if they can store the meat until your ready to go home.

Some M 70s (New Haven CT)wont need to be trued, a good smith will tell you if the rifle must be trued or not. I had Phoenix Custom Rifles re-barrel my M 70 and it shot cheap factory ammo really good, some better then others. Smallest group .383 largest .89 he told me the action was 99.9999% straight and all it needed was a new barrel. He did square up the face of the receiver to the action. My hand loads for Barnes LRX averged .4, and that isnt a target bullet using hornady brass (not good). He also did a trigger job on the rifle and it was the nicest M 70 trigger Ive touched. I have a pair of the Alico boots used them on my elk hunt and went into some really steep rough terrain excellent ankle support, good shank/very stable on steep slopes, very comfortable boot, short break in.

I have owed two WBYs a 7 mm rem. classic and a 300, the worst group .75 the best was a consistent .3/.5 from a factory Vanguard using 165 gr. TSX. There ammo is excellent quality and produces the claimed velocity or slightly better. Nice rifle.

Building a pad for the safe to sit on is a good idea, you dont have to worry about hitting a cable or a flooded garage. You can place the safe where you want it not where the cables dictate its location.
