Great choice. Any of the standard calibers are excellent, 270 win, 280 rem, 3006 spr. or 308 win. The last bull elk I shot with my 3006 spr. dropped within 30 yards the 308 win works just as well.

Sig is recalling the new rifle so heads up for those have recently purchased one. There is also a review on nutnfancy and the rifles trigger malfunctions VERY BADLY.

That was when they first started making them, it was about a year before after its introduction until they had all of the issues resolved.

If they are jacketed YES, it eats the forcing cone through gas erosion. Any of those pistol rounds that hit 1400 fps and up can eat up the throat. My dad shot the throat out of his using a steady diet of jacketed bullets. If you use a hard cast bullet they last forever in comparison.

You can also have this rifle re-chambered to 280 AI. The standard 280 is a great round though.

If the chamber on your AR isnt chrome lined you may get stuck cases.
