I don't know what's been goin on with the white tanks, but the deer are nowhere to be found! I've hunted the north end up in a draw, the land inside the park, and the very top of the mountain. All I've seen is 5 does and a spike. Does anyone know what the heck the deer are doing? Or if you have a success story id love to hear it. It's tough out there. Never glassed so much land with such little success.

So Ive heard a few different theories... 1. Apply last minute and your application is put on top and drawn. 2. Your odds of drawing with a paper application are higher than online. 3. Game and fish awards tags at a higher rate to new youth who complete hunter safety. What are your thoughts? I'm not saying any of these are true... I don't know

Nobody ever knew he was there

Haha funny you say that, my dads friend killed one off hole 9! No lie he sat in the bushes in the evening and watched golfers come by, and when a forkie walked up, he flung an arrow and dragged the deer off the course.

You can't draw a third choice unless there's tags left over from the 1-2 pass, meaning tag draw odds are 100 percent. The leftover tags from the 1-2 pass are then put up for grabs by 3rd choice applicants

Paper never fails

I got a math problem for ya if you can do it.. I want you to tell me the chances That one person will draw out of 4 applications we have. Person 1 5bp 3a3c early arch 7w late rifle Person 2 5bp 3a3c early arch 5b late rifle Person 3 4bp 3a3c early arch 23 late rifle Person 4 1bp 6a late rifle 5b late rifle If there's any way to calculate the chances that ONE of us will draw is really appreciate it. If not don't worry about it I already have individual odds. Thanks for your service to cwt

Went up scouting today around 10am. I found some solid glassing points but I want your opinions on them. The first one is a bit flat. There is a wash that cuts through it in the center, and the nearest road is a quarter mile. The second spot is high up and overlooks a valley where 2 washes meet. In the far background is a tall mesa. This is unit 21 in the desert half. What do you guys think? I saw a ton of sign and lots of tracks in the washes. Any suggestions? How's it look ?

Oh haha I see

Not sure what that means... I didn't even sit down my entire scouting trip, i put in boot to get to every glassing point I could and check em out. These are a few I liked.. @psebowhunter

It's a pretty remote dirt road with no other real roads around it, but idk maybe I'll try to get further in

My father and I took a week long hunting trip to the UU bar ranch in New Mexico. From the time we drove through the white gates we knew it was a special place. Hundreds of antelope grazed the fields and we could see rutting bulls from the front porch of the lodge. Upon checking in, the wildlife manager john caid informed us we would be hunting their high country and staying in a cabin on a private lake at 10,000 feet in elevation. The dirt road up to the cabin took us 22 miles up into the mountains from the lodge and any other signs of civilization. Driving up in the evening we saw herds in the open parks numbering from 20-50 elk. This was exciting! That night I couldn't sleep with all the bugles right outside my window! Opening morning we were outside planning where to hunt and decided to just walk out the back door and chase after bugles!! Why drive somewhere when the elk are right there? We walked 100 yards and immediately spotted a bull. He was a small 6x6 with short 3rds. that picture doesn't show him well. We continued to chase bugles and located more elk than I can count. This ranch is truly a majestic place, I have never on tv or in real life heard or seen so many elk! They were fighting and breeding and screaming their heads off! I got video of 2 6x6 goin at it with each other. Anyway, we were sorting through bulls looking for a management 5x6 or below to meet the qualifications of my tag. About 9 o'clock we found a 315 class 5x6 who had been run off by the herd bull. My guide blew the cow call and he turned broadside and the 150 grain 30-06 ballistic tip dropped him in his tracks. Here's the results!! I couldn't be more pleased with my bull!!! I was able to catch a few trout later that day too! Made for a good meal. Next it was my dads turn, he passed up bulls till day 2 and finally took a 6x4 bull in his bed ! This was one of the best experiences of my life! I have never heard of or seen such quantities of elk in such beautiful country! It was unbelievable!! Good luck to all who have tags coming up! Elk hunting is a way of life!

Recently, I wanted to get some dove on the table so I took my .22 cal pellet gun hunting. This thing hits at 32 ft lbs and has killed coyotes! Anyways, I found a dove at 25 yards and put a pellet through him in a texas heart shot style. This thing took off like nothing happened but I knew I hit him from the THUD! I have never had a bird go more than 10 yards after being shot with this thing! It packs power! I watched him land and figured I give him a minute. I waited till I was confident he was dead and went over to him surprised when he flew yet another 50 yards! I looked another 30 minutes and gave up! Later, I decided to search again as I found it highly unethical not to. As I was going through the brush, I found him! Upon breasting him out, I was amazed at the destruction he endured!! The pellet had turned his intestines to mush, shattered his sternum and chest plate, cut a hole in the right ventricle of the heart, punctured a lung, and exited through the breast! I have no idea how or why he survived for that long but he will be remmembered as the INVINCIBLE dove! Plus he tasted good!

Drop compensation .22 cal pellet gun
SwampMafia replied to SwampMafia's topic in Long Range Shooting
Don't know the fps but I put a 25 grain .22 cal pellet on high power right through a coyote skull and out the other side at 30 yards, it's got some power! I'm sure if you looked it up online you could find it.
