Unfortunately my release broke yesterday. I have another release I can use, but I'm not shooting nearly as consistent with it. I leave for an Archery Antelope hunt on the 13th. I was drinking some water at my desk when I read this. Now I get to clean my desk off from spitting it all out while also laughing my butt off! Freaking Hilarious comment!!!!! LOL!!!!

I personally would love to learn how to work on my own animals! My taxidermist of 20 years has moved away. I haven't found anyone I like so it would be a great time to learn how to do it myself. If anyone is local and willing to teach I would be VERY interested!!!!

I know a few people who have done it. I was not impressed with their skills after taking the class. I think you would be much better off to find a local taxidermist who would be willing to show you how over a reasonable time frame. You cannot learn how to properly mount an animal in a week.

When my son was about 8 years old he and I where headed back from sitting a water hole in the morning. We saw a little forked horn Muley run across the road. We stopped and I got out with bow in hand. The buck just stood there so I drew back for some practice. I already knew I wasn't going to shoot, but thought my son would think it was cool to see. After about 30 seconds I let the bow down and walked back to the truck. I instantly knew I made a huge mistake! My son started crying and asking why I didn't shoot the buck. I tried to teach him about letting animals grow to a mature age, but he didn't care! To this day he doesn't like hunting:( I look back on that day and wonder if he would be interested in hunting if I would have shot that buck.

I recommend getting more shooting practice so you can shoot farther!

EDIT: This is not the place I went too. I went to "Desert Pheasant Recreation". It is located in Coolidge. It was HORRIBLE!!!! Never go there. I don't know anything about Desert Creek Sportsman. I have herd good things about their duck hunting. Sorry for the confusion!

Have you tried the Lowa GTX boots? I have similar issues and love the Lowa's!
