I don't think anyone was promoting unsafe behavior or was trying to lecture anyone! I am glad az_shooter posted this. I have had similar situations this year and have been able to teach my boys the safe way to clear a gun, but not everyone knows what the consequences could be. az_shooter was just trying to educate and remind everyone what the dangers could be. Scooter was also just trying to remind everyone of the dangers from a Gun Safety Instructor perspective. I am grateful for both perspectives and will be more cautions, because of what I have learned from this post. Thanks again for the reminder!!!!!!!!!!!! Adam

Saturday afternoon my youngest son, Tanner asked if I would take him Dove hunting. I was surprised, shocked, and very happy. Tanner has not shown any interest in Hunting. I always ask him if he would like to come hunting, but he is very content as home. I told him we could go Sunday afternoon. I called Lonne and made plans to meet Sunday afternoon for an Afternoon Dove Hunt. Lonne met us at my house and we all loaded into my truck for the long 2 minute ride to my new Dove spot. We unloaded and walked into the field to set up. Lonne set up about 100 yards to my right. I set up Tanner & Kyle at the same spot. I loaded the guns and gave the kids a quick safety briefing. They were very excited to start shooting. Almost immediately Lonne was able to get several birds on the ground. Kyle and I have been hunting this spot since opening day. It's been Awesome every day. It was a little different last night. The birds were flying higher and later than usual. After a few shots Kyle was able to get his first bird down, but the time between shots was a lot longer than it had been earlier in the week. After about 30 minutes I saw some birds flying toward us. I told the boys to get ready and to wait until the birds got within range. As the birds got close enough I told Tanner to aim at the lowest bird and to fire when he was ready. Tanner shot first and made a perfect shot! Kyle shot right after Tanner and he made a perfect shot on the second bird. It was Awesome! Both birds hit the ground at almost the same time. We all started screaming with excitement! Tanner had just shot his first Dove! It was also a double with his brother! Another life long memory for this Dove season. The birds started flying and the shooting began to pick up. Lonne was to get 9 birds for the night with some great shooting. Kyle ended the night with 7 birds. Tanner was able to get 3 birds on his first ever Dove hunt! He shot every bird in the air with a semi auto 20 gauge. It was a great night. After we got home we took some pictures and made some calls to grandpa:) After all the pictures were done and the birds had been cleaned Tanner had a question. He asked "when can we go Dove hunting again"? It was the words I've wanted to hear for a long time. Another hunter is born!!!!!!!! Great job Tanner!

I don't normaly get involved in these fight's, but thought I would give my 2 cents. You say that you keep getting your rights taken away. You also said you are not a member of the NRA, because " I DO NOT SUPPORT THE NRA due to some of the ridiculous guns we think we need to own as americans " That's your right, but if we do not stand up for all rights we will slowly have all gun right's even the " RIDICULOUS " rights taken away! We need to stand together and insure that we keep all of our right's! Not just the one's that work best for us now. This is the same for hunting right's. I agree, the person you encountered was not being safe, and should absolutley be picking up after himself, but he has every right to hunt next to the road or hunt close to you. That's the good and bad about public land! Adam

I had several friends planning on coming to town for the Dove opener. I really wanted them to have a good time. I've been scouting really hard to find some really good Dove spots. After several weeks of scouting I was pretty sure Sunday morning was going to be good. Little did I know it was going to be Awesome! As the sun came up on Sunday morning my friends and I were sitting on the edge of a Dairy Farm. As soon as it was legal to shoot, the fun began. Over the next several hours we shot over 52 Eurasian Dove, Farm Pigeon's & our limit of Morning/White Wing's. It was the best Dove hunting I have ever experienced. Unfortunately my son was not able to join us in the morning. We came back and for an evening Eurasian hunt. Again it was Awesome! My son shot several Eurasian & a few Mornings’. He had a great time. The next day we tried a farm in Stanton with little success. My son did manage to get 3 Eurasian’s, but that's it. Monday morning our Farm spot was all dried up. Plenty of Morning Dove, but the Eurasian’s were gone. That night I took my son to another spot I had scouted. It was Awesome. He was able to get 8 morning Dove. This was his first time shooting a 12 ga. He did Great! Wednesday night we went back to the same spot as Monday evening. It was truly Amazing! My son was able to get his limit of 10 birds in about an hour. I think he averaged 2 birds a box:) It was a lot of fun. That night we cooked the day's Dove as soon as we got home. A little seasoning, Bacon, A1 sauce and a tooth pick created a great dinner. This year's Dove season is going to be a lifelong memory for both of us. We have never had so much fun together. I hope all of you are having as much fun as we are. Looking forward to tonight.

My son and I are really looking forward to Dove Season. Last year he got his limit almost every day. He was the happiest 9 year old. I'm hoping he can limit every day this year. It's going to be a great year either way! I'm planning on taking him to the Robbins Butte kids Dove hunt for the first time. He's going to love it. I hope the White Wings stick around for opening weekend. I saw a lot of them a few weeks ago, but not as many lately. Adam
