I might be wrong but in reading through the regulations I think the only units where you are only allowed 1 bird are in the draw units. Any of the open over the counter units allow you now to take two birds. I know it used to be different and it seems like one would have to change between the Gila and Apache forest to harvest both birds but there is nothing in the regulations about this anymore and I think it was taken out of the regulations two or three years ago. I would love to go to NW this year, but I'm helping some kids on the Jr hunt. I will be busy the following weekend because I got lucky and drew another tag. This is my 3rd year in a row drawing a turkey tag:) I'm hoping to make it 3 for 3.

I personally feel the Turkey hunting is better in NM, because the hunt starts a lot earlier. New Mexico hasn't always been an easy hunt, but most of the time I've got on birds.

New Mexico Turkey hunting is Awesome! Some units you can take 2 birds. Well worth the money and time.

Have you tried to trade the hunt at any gun shops? If not, it might be worth a try.

Pshhh... pathetic!! Only a peasant would shoot them flying away. The only acceptable way to kill a duck is to give them a gentlemanly greeting with your kazoo, tip your hat, and an give an honorable bow. If they accept your invitation to join your decoy orgy and commit to landing nearby, you can ONLY shoot them if they have locked wings, are no more than 15yds above the water and at a total range of no more than 30yds. If one is allowed to land because there are others still working you, and those other birds flare, you've got to let the one on the water go because you should be ashamed you didn't finish the flock. If you wound a bird and it hits the water, you can't dispatch it on the water either. Better have a good retriever! Everyone on here complains abouth ethics yet apparently shooting sitting ducks is cool. Wow. I agree, we are a weird bunch of people at times:)

If I have the money I would choose Nightforce. If I'm on a budget I would go with the Vortex PST. I personally use MOA. For what I do the 2nd focal plane works fine for me.

you dont really think its fun to shoot them off the water do you? Yes, I shoot ducks on the water, the ground and in the air. I don't have problem with it and I could care less if anyone likes it or not. I've had a bunch of really fun days with my Son and Brother in law shooting ducks on the water. My son shot his first Drake Mallard & Drake Pintail this year on the water. Those are great memories we will all have forever! Sure, I would love to have spots where I could decoy ducks, but I don't. Therefore I do the best with what I have! Even if I had great decoy spots I'm sure I would still jump tanks, because it's fun! Adam
