I agree with the above statements, but I have always prefered the early season. I've shot birds during both seasons and I've been skunked on both seasons. Quality scouting is highly important for either season to ensure you are hunting where the birds located.

Yes it's definitely worth it. Especially if you can get good deals on lead and hulls. I load 28 gauge for about $3.50 for 25. That would normally cost me about $11 a box. I can load 12 gauge a little cheaper if I get free hulls. Getting a good deal on lead is the most important factor in saving money.

I love to Quail hunt, but I'm usually very busy hunting or helping hunt Elk & Deer for the next 2 months. Plus Dove hunting is more of a social type of hunting.
