Where are you located?

Yup, no doubt that traffic is flowing through the Huachucas. Good to see that it's making news. Border is not close to being secure, so don't listen to the liberal media or politicians saying it is. I work the Huachucas mountains and see the amount of traffic first hand. Definitely a good idea to be armed when walking around the area. Possible gun on the hip of this guide caught on camera.

Glassing Tips- What works best for you? Unit 8 Hunt
G_E_E replied to mrodri30's topic in Elk Hunting
As a general rule you want to glass the south and east facing slopes during sun up, and the north or west facing slopes during mid day/sunset times. -

Does anyone have any suggestions on where a family of 8 or maybe less can stay during mid October cow hunt(14-20)? Gonna be too cold for my wife and others to tent camp, so we're looking for a cabin or something along those lines. Thank you

Very nice, I have a collection of about ten sheds that I have found throughout the years working groups, definitely a perk of the job.

Thanks for the info, I will be looking into it.

Don't mean to hijack your thread but figured this is a worthy question given the title. I been having some fletching contact with my newly installed ripcord. Will tightening the string connected to the football help the rest drop sooner? Any thought?

I went back and forth between the viper 15x50 and vulture 15x56. After my LEO discount it would be a 100 dollar difference, the vultures costing 400 and vipers 500. I don't know if that's near your price point. I went with the vultures cause of the 56mm objective lens for those low light situations. They are a little heavier but other than that I didn't see major difference as far as clarity with the glass. And yes I only use them with a tripod, I wear 10x50 around my neck.

Gonna be a tough hunt. Road Access is limited. Get ready for some hiking for the best results. -

My wife, her dad and her sister were very lucky to have drawn a cow tag in 6A this year for the mid October rifle hunt. This will be our first time elk hunting. I have been successful at deer and javelina hunting during the past five years but i myself, haven't been drawn yet for elk. My father in law will primarily be road hunting due to his health. The rest of us can do some hiking. Any tips for me in regards to helping these new hunters will be much appreciated. Were hoping to get two scouting trips in during the summer. Also any information on any cheap cabins in the area will be a big help. Thank you

Thanks a lot for the info so far

Hey yall, I'll be heading out to 30b in upcoming general hunt. Trying to get my son whose 11 his first big game kill and my dad and brother their first javelina. This will be the first time for us hunting in this unit. Unfortunately because of work I cannot scout. Im thinking of hunting the dragoons. Good spot? Looking for someone that is familiar with this unit who can suggest a good camping/hunting area. Any information will be highly appreciated. Thank you and good luck.
