It did work...point is, chances are much better that a more powerful handgun has a much better chance of killing a grizzly.he owes it to his clients,as their guide, to be able to protect them to the best of his ability.that means not relying on a 9mm to stop a bear attack. You're not going to find much to argue that if you talk to people that llive and work up north.he got lucky.
-
That's true, but regardless i bet he dosent take that chance again

I understand who Phil shoemaker is, but he got lucky this time, should have never been caught with anything smaller then some hot load hard cast 10mm in grizzly country ...especially as the guide. talk about a wake up call! I can't imagine how terrifying that would be!

Vortex summit ssp is my backpacking tripod. Packs small, very sturdy for being so small, and weighs 2# or less, and I think I paid less then 100 bucks for it

Shoot a little low, like 1/3 up body behind shoulder instead of half way. Wait til they're not lookin if possible, even better if they're not aware you're there.

Oh ok thanks. I happened to do that 3 times in a new area we found last year, but I've never heard of a quail slam before. One morning I got a male and female of all 3 species,I remember thinking it was pretty cool -

What is "the slam"? -
I highly recommend checking out the Sawyer mini. It's like the survival straw but much more versatile, you can use it with water bottles, with a hydration bladder,or as a straw etc. Plus, it weighs 2 0z for my fellow weight conscious backpack hunters.I use it and take a few treatment tablets for backup in case i have a problem with the filter ( never have), and I have a $20,2 oz, bulletproof system.

Nothing you guys are saying is new... elders question the next generation almost always. I can hear it now, "but this time it's different...", but is it? There have always been mindless or lazy people. My generation just is carrying on that tradition. I am just greatful not to be one of them.

I loved watching cocky cam Newton repeatedly blow it for his team.my favorite part was when he wussed out instead of diving in for that fumble, sealing the loss....
