If I was in your position (and I will be soon, just 40 don't need the bi-focal's yet), I would go see an audiologist. My ears ring all the time from many years of operating heavy equipment and shooting without hearing protection because I was to good for that. My wife gets pretty pissed having to repeat everything. My son is deaf and hunts with me. He misses quite a bit when we go out., and honestly has no idea how much noise he makes walking in the woods. Last year on his bull hunt we must have heard over 500 bugles one day, no kidding we couldn't even take a nap they wouldn't shut up. On the way home I asked him how many bugles he heard, he told me "5" and was thrilled. He wears his hearing aids while we hunt, and turns them off before he shoots. When he was younger we had it worked out that when I reached over and turned off his hearing aids it was alright to take a shot. I've damaged my ears beyond repair and a trip to the audiologist is in the near future. --Bill

The license will run you between $346.00 to $781.00 depending on what hunt you have, unless you get a landowner tag. Then it will be the previous stated cost plus whatever you pay for the landowner tag. --Bill

Q and HD are just for units that produce high numbers of applicants. They are not necessarily Mature Bull hunts, meaning that a legal bull must have at least a fork with both sides being 6" or more long. Some are either sex hunts. --Bill

Tyson, He's looking a bit rough. Good luck finding his headbones this year, hopefully you won't be on birdwatch looking for his carcass. --Bill

With an either sex license you can take a cow or bull. --Bill

Very close call, glad you are alright. --Bill -
DUG, If you need more help let me know. It took quite awhile before I could figure out how to use Arizona's system for applying. I think every state's regulations vary enough that a little help is warranted. Hope it works out for you. --Bill

"although we may share different religious beleifs on this site we do all share a common love for hunting, the outdoors, and wildlife. Too often we focus on our differences that drive us apart instead of creating the unity to stand up against those that fight to destroy our sport. Thanks for reading and let's make sure we remain respectful of peoples most charished and sacred beliefs whether we agree with them or not." Excellent post. --Bill

Good job, most people carry a rabbits foot for good luck not the whole rabbit. --Bill -

My wife and I are going to Phoenix this weekend so she can pick up a puppy. She is nonstop talking about going to Cabela's, I think she may have a problem . I don't suppose there are any outdoor shows down there this weekend are there? With my luck it's probably the only weekend nothing is happening. --Bill

WFGinNM replied to fatfootdoc's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
Good to hear, I didn't put in but my wife and son didn't draw. Oh well, more money to spend on other hunts. What hunts did you get? Congratulations, --Bill -
Good forum, can't wait until the walleye slamming starts. After the bulk of antler picking, and turkey busting. --Bill

BOING!!!! Finding one from the truck, amazing. Good deal, --Bill -
Dick, That is great, walleye are fun. To me it's like hunting (I'll probably catch some flack for that). You really have to "hunt walleye" or luck into them. In my opinion there isn't a better eating freshwater fish except maybe yellow perch (tiny). If you ever venture into north central NM I'd be glad to point you into some fair 'eye fishing. In a couple months I hope I can post some more pic of these tasty fish. Fish on, --Bill

Gunna buy a new pair of boots.... need advice.
WFGinNM replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Other Hunting Gear
Coues'n'Sheep, I have a pair of Cabelas Perfekt 7" hikers. I really like them, they are my everyday boot, and hunting boot when I'm not dealing with the snow. In the cold and snow I use the Meindl Denalis with 400gr of Thinsulate. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...rset=ISO-8859-1 --Bill -
Hopefully I can tell you after this weekend. --Bill

I haven't canoed the Chama, I have fished below the dam a few times trying to pick up some browns, but we usually just fish for walleye and the occasional smallmouth. --Bill
