You saw the dead one as well? Also seen a dead javelina there a month ago.

That's a spread right there! What boat? Just got back from a 3day trip. Tried for BFT for two days with just a few to show for it. Caught a bunch of YFT on day 3 all in the 15-30 range.

And guys wonder why elk have gotten more quiet every year.... ^^^^^^ that is one reason. Just spoke with a friend who watched a bull breed a cow today... Never bugled once. Cow never made a peep either... They are rutting just real quiet about it.

They never stop growing and anything can happen with the growth... Some grow typical frames with trash and some are weirdos all the way till they die. Cool animals for sure.

Using a bow during the general season

Retards a plenty!!!!! Orange for sure!! Hunt the whiteys up in the pines. Way way way less pressure and some really good bucks if you know where to look. And it's cooler. -
Why would azgfd let the state recover? They put out a slanted survey, they got the answer they wanted, they got a scapegoat (us) now they can do what they wanted to all along and tell us it's what WE wanted... Government at its finest... We lose and the animals lose more... But they get bigger budgets...

It's about money coupled with private land issues in the unit IMO. 1/4 of the unit is off limits as is and if the BO does something crazy it may close as well. The ranch you live on and north of the tracks is sloooowly building houses, limiting access and habitat. I think game and fish thinks "screw it" and let's make as much off the units reputation as they can. It's never been about wildlife I remember just short handfull of years ago seeing giant (100-300 head) herds at rose well, red lake, bishop and a few other locations. Not even close to that now... 350 bulls were very common but now you should probably shoot. There will always be some great bulls in the unit but not like days past. Last bull I personally shot was a mile from your house and the area was loaded with elk..... Haven't seen a bull worth shooting (300+) and very few cows since...

Friend killed a 350 bull on sat sitting a wallow in the evening.

Looking for a Guide

Seriously? Where does he live? Just go to the nearest ag fields or desert waterholes, stay a quarter mile from buildings get a HIP stamp and license and go... -
Bowunter, I agree with you but the "ethics smethics if it's legal do it" crowd is gonna hammer you! In fact I could name 10 guys on this site that will definatly say something.... They are very predictable.... But for fun lets see who chimes in....

If and when do you lower your standards?
208muley replied to no worries's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I say hold out and shoot only giants!!! Make sure they have a $5k rifle, full set of kuiu, or Sitka, no less than Swarovski 10x42 el hd AND 15x56hds with a $1k tripod. $400 boots. A video team to film every single moment, and more gadgets and gear than can be carried by themselves. If they don't know how to score an animal and post to social media before the animal is gutted....... They aren't ready. These kids need to be At the top of the game right away...... Ain't got time to shoot small critters as it is a direct reflection on you the parent!!!! Or you can just get them some gear and trigger time, get em out there, and if they see something that is legal and their eyes give you "the look". Then let them shoot... And enjoy every single moment!!! -
They exist. I personally know two of the WMs for 20c in the last 10 years and both said they saw Coues, but in very small numbers and in basically the same place, during flight surveys. No eye guards on those sheds and if you look at how the g2 comes off the beam my guess is mule deer.

Awesome! I need to get my butt up there and find a buck or two for my jan hunt! Would those bucks be in unit c?

Midwest this is the "look at me generation". I am convinced people only do half the things they do so they can brag on social media. Doesn't make sense to me but I'm the weirdo for not having Facebook. Heck, I don't even post pictures on this site around mostly like minded people. Guess everybody wants their 15 minutes.

Need more angles but looks promising.

To all the archery "hunters" in 24A (Pinal Mt Area)
208muley replied to whiteeye's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I'm gonna disagree with the OP. please sleep in till whenever or maybe just stay in camp and drink. Camp next to the road in clusters, and by all means drive the roads ( please don't let the driver drink) drive all dang day turn those roads to powder!! At least I know where you will be and probably not hurt the game populations! Please keep beer cans IN the truck. Thanks for spending money to hang out in the wild for a few days... -
Some days will be awesome and some will suck and some will be just ok...... Every elk season is pretty much the same as there are highs and low of the rut..... Heat can kill the daytime activity but when you sleep they are going ballistic... Pressure can change the bugle but they still breed the cows it's just quiet. Some days are what every hunter dreams about... If anyone can predict the rut or the intensity of it they would be a wealthy guy... Enjoy the roller coaster and shoot the bull you are looking for. Good luck

Darn tough. Best sock I've ever used. I back back hunt and they are the best at keeping as smell free as possible. You won't be disappointed.
