backpacking tent and bag recommendations
208muley replied to Green Bullet's topic in Other Hunting Gear
I have a big Agnes copper 1man tent. Only two pounds. Can't remember how much I spent $300 ish. I use an xtherm pad as it has a high r value and easy to blow up. A little "crunchy" sounding but not bad. As far as bags, it's a personal thing, but I would look at enlightened equipment quilts. A 20* quilt only weighs 1.5 pounds. You can customize them to fit your needs. I have the 5200 icon and it will easily fit all my gear and 5 days worth of food glass etc. you said it correctly, you get what you pay for, light and quality do not come cheap. I have spent a small fortune getting lighter stuff but it is nice to go for 5 days and only have about 40 lbs on my back. -
Cut a bull elk out of a fence after he ran across the highway and got his hind leg tangled in the top two strands of wire. Happened up on fh3 near stoneman lake. Scary crap cutting the strand of wire so close to him. He dang sure didn't want me that close but as he ran away I bet he was a little happy. And yes I fixed the fence where I cut him out.

Hunt the areas with Lots of prickly pear!!!!! Which is basically the entire verde valley. No matter where I have been in pear country, I find pigs. When scouting glass glass glass if you don't find them then take a walk looking for tracks. If you find an area with new and old tracks get some elevation and start glassing. The vast majority of their time is spent living in a small (120ac) parcel. Cold sunny no wind days( or a slight north wind) are great days to find em. They will all be on the southern exposures and easy to find. Calls either work like a charm or make em run like crazy the other direction. Good luck.

Being a hunter and having an opinion on game management in this state is about as worthless as me typing this on this topic. Azgfds mind is already made up on what they are gonna do and wether we like it or hate it we will still buy every tag they offer us and thank them for the OPPORTUNITY to buy overpriced tags in over hunted units.

Awesome buck! Congrats!

My rifle is good to a thousand.... Heck it can probably shoot a bullet to 3000, most rifles can. But I can't, at least not yet. 5-600 yds and a critter is in trouble tho. I believe in always getting as close as possible. I have no problem with guys shooting as far a they are PROFICIENT with shooting. Key word PROFICIENT. A man has to know his limitations and right now mine isn't 1000. Some day it may be. The phases I do hate hearing are "if they ain't flying they ain't dying" and " it was so big I had to take the(super far) shot" or " I had to take the (far shot) cause I had to fill my tag, I was a little one anyways so biggie if I didn't kill him" me- did you hit him??? Guy-" I know I missed". Respect for the animal we hunt and our proficiency with the weapon we have should be the two deciding factors we should think about before taking the shot. Not "filling a tag" or a good "hero" pic.... Sadly for many the later out weigh the former.

Officiating sucks for all teams and all year!!! Some games are just brutal to watch.. Hankies on every other play... With bad officiating and the politics and over all bad play I'm getting close to saying F it and just watch college. Just like many other people.

Toyo at2.... Second set going to get my third next couple weeks. Get an average of 52000 miles on my tundra. I also change out my tires way early to avoid issues. I could easily get another 10k on this set. Best tires I have ever had.

I'm in north phx. I17and carefree. I swing by all three stores pretty regularly as my job take me all over the valley daily. No luck yet. Can't seem to find a place that will let me back order either. I read somewhere on the net, so of course it's gotta be true lol, that they aren't putting out as many primers cause the margins are less than what they make with loaded ammo.

I have seen only one pic of a great buck taken up there so far. This buck was in B. nothing from A yet. I wonder how the hunt is going up there? Anyone heard anything good yet?

+1 on the 6.5. My small framed 10 yr old shoots a savage model 11 6.5 CM and shoots it well. He doesn't get jumpy after 20 rounds at the range either. Just food for thought.

And I bet if you could kill another one like it today and the pack out was twice as bad you would! I know I would! Great buck congrats!

What is the weight of the marsupial? Looks like it is similar to kuiu but it has the upper straps for the pouch and glass which is the only flaw with kuiu. and being local is cool!

^^^^this!^^^^ Dont see many like that. Great shooting and congrats! ^^^^this!^^^^ Dont see many like that. Great shooting and congrats! I gotta agree. A non typical, a typical and a cactus buck all shoulder mounted on one pedestal base would be a very cool and unique display!

19 points and finally a goulds tag for me! Wife drew a merriams tag and everybody drew pig tags. Good times are coming for this spring!
-
You would think that with 19 points I would finally draw a goulds tag!!!!! Well you would be right! I have finally drawn the tag for the first hunt in either 33 or 35a... Super pumped about it!! My wife also drew a tag as well for merriams! Cool deal!

Hey kris, If you find em pick em up! If it's a big animal and you tell game and fish, they will take it to sell at the auction to pad their coffers. Eric
