Go with a merino 210 weight and you should be happy! No more clammy , smelly, synthetics for me. Once synthetics get wet from sweat they don't keep you as warm unlike merino which still works when wet. The only synthetic stuff I use anymore is my "puffy" jacket and my outer layer pants. Once I got educated about merino I have never looked back. Good stuff for sure!

So a calf or fawn in distress sound might be a good coyote call up there right now? I'm bringing the rifle next time. Definatly a good time to call coyotes! The fur sucks but a dead dog is a dead dog!! When fawns drop here in about a month will be another good time to hunt em. Good luck!

The BO tends to hold the most goats. Gotta pay, but it's worth it. Check aubrey valley, flats around rose well and trinity, then the whole plateau noth of rose well to camp 5. The area east of bishop lake and c lake is worth looking at as well. The forest also has some goats and an occasional whopper. Take the espee rd till you cross the private the check out all the area around tin house as well. Lots and lots of country to cover if you are looking for a giant. Bring lots of extra gas. Good luck!

I wouldn't worry too much, its normal. Most of the cows herds are broken up and hiding after they drop their calves. Once the calves can move around real good they will herd back up and be everywhere and very vocal.

Thanks for disagreeing then saying basically the same thing. I didn't know I had to get technical and quote code to be right. Not everyone here is an electrician so I kept it real basic. My bad, next time I will quote code and get technical.

Never plug a freezer or fridge into a gfi!!! The compressors are notorious for tripping a gfi hence the reason the fridge in your kitchen isn't protected by a gfi. I'm a service electrician and see a ton of these calls every year. There are a few different things you can do if your handy to "fix" this problem or you can just call me!

I hunted back east and I don't care for many of their recovery practices. One camp I was in won't even attempt to recover in the dark unless it dies within sight. They say it is so it doesn't get pushed onto an adjoining property, maybe so, but I watched a few deer get brought in the morning and, minus the antlers of course, dumped. It's sad as there are three trophys in any hunt, the hunt itself, the meat, and the antlers. I myself, let the blood trail tell me when and how I will track. Sometimes I error and learn, but most of the time I recover in a timely maner and very very rarely loose meat. I have spent many a night working my butt off all night in rain, snow, hot, and cold and occasionally perfect weather to get it done! Red, you seem to be pretty savvy out there, I would use your best judgement. If you make a mistake then learn from it but otherwise go with your gut and you will be fine. Tv shows are one of the worst things that has happened to hunting IMO. Don't believe all you see! I have seen shows " filmed" and it's pretty much all staged except the kill shot. But this is a whole other topic. Good luck out there!

I did once. Went with Hadley Creek Outfitters. I won't post anything about the trip here on the forum but pm me if you want more info.

Oh to be able to shed hunt the Rez!!! Cool stuff!

122 6/8ths gross, 112 3/8 net........ What do I win??? Lmao All joking aside, if you are happy with him smoke him! But if you are looking for a 150 type or better deer keep looking. Odds are good he will be better this year if he is still around. His configuration is actually pretty good for a young deer that doesnt score high, so if he adds tine length he may be something in the next year or two or three. Good luck!

Cool stuff.... Much better chance of survival!

The site sucked! It was full of guys trying to prove how bad a$$ they are!!! You had a clique of guy that just hammered anyone that had a different opinion. Just like most of the sites out there. Only checked out the site for about a week before I left for good. I recently found a new site that is awesome! Great group that have good convos and tend to be very helpful. Cwt is pretty solid as well.

I would have to agree with coach. Parents are the biggest influence in hunting. Ask any kid who they think is the best hunter they know and 9times out of 10 it will be a parent. They learn a ton from just being in the field and going to some of the jr camps. You were talking at an antelope event. Far from the most popular animal for kids due to few tags. Those that draw tend to be older in this state.... Look how many points most guys have! Not trying to be rude or anything but if you want kids at more events then it needs to be marketed to kids. Most kids won't go to an event designed for adults, make it about them and they will show. I volunteered at a jr pig camp and would have a talk, not seminar, with the kids on how to hunt pigs. It went very well! I found that interactive speaking that didn't sound like preaching or teaching worked way better, they get that at school and maybe home, they didn't want it like that at camp. It was basically a q&a with a lot of tangents by me thrown in for good measure. Any or all of the kids could leave the chat anytime they wanted as it wasn't mandatory to attend. None did and there were about 70 kids in camp. Make it about them, talk to them not at them, make it fun and they will show. Not sure if You read these responses but if you have any questions drop me a pm.

Do you agree with G&F forcing kids to take Hunter Safety???
208muley replied to Big Browns's topic in Youth Hunters
In a word...... Yes...... Just wish they offered more courses. So hard to get signed up for the adults. My son is taking it this year at the YOU jr class, which is awesome! My daughter took it and woody, Scott, dewanne and the rest of the crew are top notch and do a great job with this and all the other camps they do! Second to none IMO... -
The Deadline is in... What did you put in for?
208muley replied to DeerCraver's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
End game for me will be a bonus point. -
Put it in Muley crazy. Better mag anyways. I had a story on my buck in there and they did a really good job, even put it on the cover. Congrats to the young man in eastmans, that's got to make him feel pretty good!

Not to be mean but you are a little high. I got $400 for 4 rock warrior wheels and %50 tread on bfg muds, and thought I did well. The rock warrior wheels are in the most demand of all Toyota wheels.

Very nice!!!!

Doesn't matter the unit the end result will probably be a bonus point just like the last 21 years....

I used the butt of a 30/30 to squash a mouse in camp once. My 9mm makes a great paper weight in my office and intimidates the heck out of people coming to complain about something!!! So I disagree, they both have uses!!!!
-
Azgfd makes it too easy to bash them so all I will say is........... It's a government agency and you wonder why!!??? Lmao

Any where you want if it's not posted. Scout your but off and camp near where you want to hunt. The unit is huge and you will need to learn how to get around and from one side to the other. The main acces roads in the unit are espee, the double a road from Williams, the sevens road north of ash fork, Hoffman camp, pica camp, and the hwy across the north side.

There are a few spots I go that I will pack water into pre hunt but most areas have springs. I use a filter ( katydine pro) springs and natural holes are where i prefer to get the water. Most true wilderness areas don't have dirt tanks in them but not all. You can still get good water from them but it they are muddy it clogs up the filter quicker.
