Hunt your hunt cause everyone else is gonna hunt their hunt. I've killed plenty of great critters after other guys have blown thru areas I was hunting. No biggie.

There are tons of pigs in this unit. Access anywhere from hillside to Baghdad and along the camp wood road. You can get to a bunch of country just north of skull valley. Find typical Javi habitat and you should do fine. There are tons of pigs in the juniper country but you have to work too hard to find em but the herds tend to be big due to no hunting pressure.

I love hunting these little guys and have spent a lot of time with biologists that have given me a ton of info on them! Herds tend to live 70% of their time in a 120 acres or less, core areas. If you find areas with lots of scat and different ages of tracks and some well used bedding areas that is probably a core area. Just get elevation and glass till they show, if it isn't the first day it will probably be the next. Most guys move around too much searching for them. If the sign is there then sit till they show...

Get away from roads and you will be just fine! Just remember the ground doesn't lie, if there are no pig tracks there are no pigs where you are at. Find sign then get elevation and glass glass glass.

Best job in the world is a weatherman!!! What other job can you have where you can be wrong all the time and still be employed? And if you have a face for tv you can make bank and still be full of crap as long as you smile good while doing it... Great gig...

I'm not going to give up my spots but if you look for areas 3/4 to 1 mile or more away from roads or spots that have natural barriers like a steep ridge or canyon and nice looking basins beyond then you have a gold mine for piggies in those units. Pig herds get pounded hard close to roads and most guys won't walk far for them cause they are "just pigs". The spots I hunt are way off the road and I literally can sit on one hill and sometimes see 3-4 herds of pigs numbering 15-30 in each herd. Move a couple miles and find the same thing. Then get close to roads and it gets tough again. They don't ever get hunted and it shows when they do catch my scent they almost never blow out, they act curious as to what this new smell is.. Not kidding... Find those spots and you will have big, dumb herds with no competition.. Good luck

8 is pretty easy to locate bulls late but killing them is another question. Look for nasty stuff, the further from a road the better and dive on in. Sycamore canyon is usually great but you should bring a knife and a fork and a few guys to just eat em where he falls! Most places in the canyon to pack one out would best be described as hellish! The easier accessable canyons are usually pretty crowded. But you never know who has the tags and where the bulls are using so scouting is a must. Good luck

Just got back from 12bw on my wife's hunts. She took her first buck just a 2pt but she missed a solid buck and couldn't get a shot off at a big buck. Saw a ton of deer as usual , she actually passed bucks bigger than the one she took but it doesn't matter a first is a first!

wild/feral pigs in AZ where can i find some on public land?
208muley replied to plee911's topic in Other Big Game
Mud mtn and tweeds is where I see them most times I have been there in 13b. Sycamore creek/mesa and surrounding ares has a few in 21. Don't pay any attention to the blowhards. It's the same thing they say to anyone that asks for help unless you have been on this site a while. It's also why you don't see to many new guys and the amount of activity here is going down. It has become more of a click around here. Ahh don't tell anyone but there are audad in 36a as well. Seen them in there quite a few times. -
What is this NBA that you speak of? Never heard of it

Great pics! How come there isn't a kill pic with one of the many bucks you have from these two spots?
-
Unfortunately there isn't a hard fast answer to any spot on the late hunt in 10. "hot spots" change from year to year. If you find a bull you like but there are no other elk around for miles it's still a great spot right!? Scout scout scout is all I can say about any hunt in 10 and I have tons of experience in the unit. Good luck on the hunt!

Looks like a young bull. Just cut em off for knife handles or whatever. There is no law that says the horns have to come out of the woods just all edible meat and proof of sex. Can't assume poachers with that IMO
-
Find canyons find Coues. Or the pine trees next to canyons. Can't look too low in the unit either.
-
Worst case is, if convicted, a small fine and 5 year revocation. Big deal... Judges rarely if ever give jail time. And do you think a poacher needs a license?? Nope. If poachers were smart, they would sell one giant trophy to pay for the fine once they get caught. They say only 10% of poachers get caught. So by those numbers you could kill one giant elk or deer a year for 10 years, sell one for a few grand , and when you get popped pay the fine and continue poaching. Easy peazy.. If guilty, I'm glad he got caught, but like other situations involving outfitters, nothing much will come of it.

Find the best one or the one you like the most and shoot! Flat lander is 100% correct and that's exactly what I tell people. Unless a goat takes your breath away when you first see him you have to get super close to score them.

help with Google Earth scouting december mule deer
208muley replied to MrBojangles's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
You will be pretty disappointed with deer numbers in the 15s. 18a can be really good just a lot of private land issues. 18b, 10 or 17a would be a better bet for numbers of deer. Predominate wind in AZ is from the southwest. Unless it is really dry, which it can be, water isn't a huge factor. -
Bring shorts bring a parka. You will probably use both on the hunt at some point. My wife has the early 12 b hunt so we will have tons of clothes I'm sure
-
One drink can go a long way. They don't sweat out fluids like we do and with all the green up they get a lot of water from that. Do they get hot? I'm sure they do but they don't loose a lot of moisture cause of it IMO. Up on the strip there are great bucks every year that get killed that no one has a picture of. Mine was one of them. There are more cameras per square mile than anywhere on earth on every water, salt, saddle etc. yet a big buck shows up. Scouting water is just a small part of scouting and hunting unless its rutting elk....
-
Yep but the same crap goes on in every state.
-
Do whatever you want but please for the love of god do not use them before the hunt starts and don't drive roads calling to locate! That is the worst thing hunters do to educate the elk to what's up... Dumb bulls catch arrows wise bulls live...
-
Play stupid games.... Win stupid prizes.... If people actually try stuff like this then they get what they deserve when things go wrong. Darwin is awesome!

So I just picked one of these up but it is way too big for me. Already bought the large and got the green light to return the Xl but to save on shipping it back thought I would check to see if anyone here wanted it. Normally 179.99 I paid 139.99 which is what I need to get for it. Worn for 10 seconds. No trades and f-t-f cash sale. I live in north Phoenix. I can txt pics if you need one.
-
I have no idea. I wear the Xl in shirts and my superdown and they fit perfect so not sure what's up.
