    10 MUZZLE LOADER ELK PICS

Congrats, while I agree they are killing way to many elk in this unit there are/were a few left. One outfitter I know just killed two great bulls in 10 one scores 403 with about 20" broke off.

    THANKS VETERANS

Without those that have served, are serving, and will serve none of this thing we call the USA can happen! Every single thing we have, good, bad, and what we take for granted and what we hold dear, happened because of those who paved the way then protected the path! Thank you!!!

    Unit 10 Bull Elk

Hunting spots where you can glass tons of ground isn't always the best idea in this unit on the late hunt. Everybody knows the best places to glass from and usually you will have company so when a bull is spotted its a foot race to get him dead, and that sucks. I have hunted this unit for over 15 years with my own tag or guiding and my opinion is there is two ways to hunt this unit for better bulls on the late hunt. One is to hunt smaller brushy areas and try to dig out the bulls that are in these small pockets that are not seen from the typical glassing points. Once a bull gets to these places they almost never budge and you got to root them out. Or you could go the polar opposite and go hunt the wide open stuff in the north. Lots of elk will winter in the "antelope" grounds hiding in the little cuts and draws away from roads. You would be surprised how many big bulls hide where the tallest thing is sagebrush or grass... Both ways take a bunch of effort and shoe leather but it's very rewarding and I used to see very few hunters and killed some dandy bulls doing it. Good luck..

    Late 8 hunt

Hunt the nasty canyons on the east or south side ones that you gotta walk to are way better. Those places are like a fine wine...... Only get better with time...

    Taylor was a Trooper

Great story! Some of the best hunts I have ever been on didn't have a kill and to do it with your kid is a huge bonus! Congrats!

    12b west anybody?

Decent hunt. We were up there for the first 5 days. Better bucks just started showing up on Tuesday. Seen a 150 type buck on wed then we had to leave. With this weather and some cold it should be a heck of a lot better. We saw a lot of deer but except for two, one my wife shot at and didn't connect and one gave us the slip, all bucks were small forkies and spikes. But it will get better! Roads on the buckskins were pretty sloppy. Good luck

    Powder education please

Thanks for the responses. I can't find anything on how temp sensitive 7828 is, anyone???? Ron, I actually had to borrow a rifle to kill that deer, I had been a bow hunter exclusively for years prior to drawing the tag so I borrowed a 300 ultra. Lol Willhunt4coues, I plan on this gun to shoot 700-800 yds. Are there better powders? I understand that .5" groups are good but if downrange my groups start to go downhill do I change powder? Would it matter? Or are there other things to look at?
  11. So I am just barely getting into reloading so excuse the ignorance. What makes one powder better than others? I am working up a load for my 280 ai. With 168 Berger vld hunting bullets. I am using imr 7828 ssc powder. I am getting good groups now, .5 or a little better. Can other powder give different (better) results? Educate me amigos.... Thx

    Kiabab road question

I have a 12bw hunt coming up and don't want to pull my trailer all the way up on the buckskins on the winter road if I can avoid it. For those of you that have recent knowledge of the 248 road north of Jacob lake, how good is the road? It looks like I should be able to trailer to within about 3-4 miles of 12b set camp then drive in to day hunt. Pm or post here if you would like. Thanks in advance.

    12bw early

My wife has this tag for her first deer tag. I have hunted this unit many times but not since the fence in Utah went up. If you have hunted this hunt since the fence can you tell me how your hunt went? Are the deer figuring the fence out?

    hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Looking at the regs for Az I did not find anything that says muzzle loaders shooting shot was legal. They do say shotguns, bows, and crossbows are legal. So do they consider muzzle loaders shooting shot a shotgun? I could not find any definition of a shotgun to back it up one way or the other. Not trying to start an arguement at all just looking for clarification using the regs. They define a muzzleloader but not one shooting shot. I think it would be cool just can't find anything to back it up..

    Kiabab road question

Thanks guys. Looks like its gonna be a warm dry hunt so no worries on snow. Think I'm gonna try the 248 go as far as I can pull the trailer. Heat, did you put in for 20c piggie? My offer still stands.

    hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Seems fishy. First post and so many things done wrong including the weapon, illegal kill, illegal tagging then coming on here and telling the story the way he did. Seems fishy to the point that I call BS. Anyone get a reply on their PM? Bet you won't. Troll.

Need good home for two labs

Labs are one of the most trainable dogs out there. Even older ones can learn. Shock collar with aversion training just like they do for snakes breaking. It will work...

New to 36c and to coues

Get behind the locked gates a ways, glass glass glass. South slopes early then north slopes all day. Even if it's hot theses little deer move a little all day long. Lots of deer in the unit, good luck!

    Stolen F250

True story, it happened to me. Good luck but be expecting a check from the ins co.
  23. So I just got a new rifle and want to go out and break in the barrel. It's a 6.5 creed. So what are some methods you guys use and why? Thx in advance!
  24. I use cameras, drones, e-scout, follow trucks with coueswhitail stickers. Anything but walk or use any woodsmanship.
  25. Unless we have lost our balls. Sad part is most have. Having balls isn't PC
