Josh, The EL's are optically a hair better than the SLC and they are lighter. If you enjoy your 15x56 SLC's then you should also enjoy the 10x SLC's. A bino harness will take care of the weight difference on a long day. When you are into the high end glass it is a matter of what feels better in your hands as well as the optics, because at that level of glass sometimes the optics are actually better than your eyes so you will never be able to see the slight difference that is there. With that said, you may want to also consider the Leica or Zeiss. All three brands offer extraordinary glass.

Bill, I did a bit of research and Nikon product # 820 Binoc-U-Mount is the ticket. This allows you to attach most binoculars which are not equipped with a 1/4"-20 threaded tripod socket to any tripod head with a 1/4"-20 screw. Do you already have digital series lenses for Minolta? The reason that I ask is because Minolta/Konica went out of the camera and optics business March 31st. There are still cameras around but since they are out of the industry I would shy away from it.
