I have the LR hunter on one of my guns. The baro pressure/temp difference is pretty minimal at yardages under 500-600 yards. I print out a different chart if I am at lower elevation that tells me my adjustments from my actual turret for over 500 yards. I like the turret, but I do not shoot 600+ to often ( never so far) on animals. If I planned on shooting over 600, I think I would skip the kenton and just use the moa turret on the scope.

Big win at Arizona Taxidermy Assn. competition

Your Africa mounts are insane! Congrats on a fine showing. -

Why risk buying a used gun from out of state to save a few hundred $. Just buy a new one, and do the extra stuff as you can afford to. Most new guns from the factory will shoot accurate enough to get to "long" range. If you do buy a gun from out of state, and it turns out to be a dud, you are now stuck with what can turn into a real headache. This can happen when buying a new gun as well, but atleast you have some recourse here. If it were me, I would only buy a "long range ready" gun used, if I could shoot it first to verify it's accuracy. Lots of guys that sell rifles on here are more than willing to meet at the range to make sure both parties are happy with the sale/purchase.

Stomp--- You should stop trying to educate people that already know everything. Your knowledge falls on deaf ears. Those of us that care about ballistics, and bullet bc's are wasteing our time understanding it. Point your gun at the animal, pull the trigger and the animal dies is much simpler to understand.

Buds gun shop sells remington 300 ultra senderos for $1087.00 shipped brand new. Add $50.00 for ffl transfer, and you are still cheaper than the used one.

I think a lot of people think that guided hunt = giant animal. This is NOT the case. Some of the elite guides consistantly take larger than average animals, but not all guides do. Same goes for the paying client. Some Clients are trophy hunting, and some are just wanting to learn how to hunt and are sick of coming home empty handed. I know of plenty of people that have paid for a guide, came home with an average, or sometimes even below average animal and are tickled to death. Everyone has their reason for hiring a guide, and not all are looking to shoot a 400" bull or a 110" coues. My point being, if you want to become a guide, go for it. Start with a lesser known guide service, and be one of their guides. They cover the permits and insurance, and you are simply guiding. Guiding can be rewarding and difficult at the same time. Good luck

Does anyone have a March scope I could come look through?
HuntHarder replied to lancetkenyon's topic in Optics and tripods
How often do you use your reticle for corrections? I have always been a mildot or duplex reticle guy because of the simplicity of it. I usually dial for both wind and elevation. When I look thru some of those "busy" reticles, it takes away from my target. If you could, please explain why you use those more complex reticles. I soon ( in the next few months) will probably be buying a higher end scope for my next build. Not as high as what you are looking at, but probably somewhere near 1k$. I have never really considered one of the busier reticles, but maybe with a little education, I could be swayed. -

Have you looked at the higher end zeiss scopes. The victory series is pretty BA, and I saw they have, or are going to have a 4.8-35 coming out. Good luck in your search. Those S&B's are real nice too. -
I need to pick up a few more arrows for this season, what do you guys use? I have tried a few different ones over the last couple years, and am curious if the carbon ones are worth the extra $. Which tip do you prefer, and lastly do all of you use safety slides?

What's the report Buffhunter? I never made it out this last weekend, but will for sure be on the water this weekend. We are going to hit pleasant, (since it's close) and I will report my findings.

There is no such thing as the NR pass. You are still in the same drawing pool, however, if you are drawn, you will be capped at the 10% NR cap.

You WILL mind the work after you have started it. Very labor intensive. If you plan on laying tile over the bare sub floor, i do not see you needing to refloat the whole floor. Maybe fill in a few small holes, but not refloat the entire floor. I would suggest paying someone if you can afford it. They will use the same hammers you will, but will get it done in a couple days. If you want to try it, I would say start with a small room, see how hard it is, and go from there. The type of thinset the previous installers used and how they prepped the sub floor will determine how hard it will be to remove. Good luck

Thanks for the info 125coues. I always like reading non-biased reviews of gear. It seems like 90% of reviews these days have some hidden agenda in the background. Keep the comparison's coming, I am always looking to buy something new.

Thanks for the replies. We are planning on getting out March 4th for the first time and I am hoping for some excitement. Couespursuit- I do the same thing you are describing with my set up. I currently use a 2007 Bowtech Tribute (backup bow) and back it down to 60 lbs for bowfishing. Overkill I know, but those deep Buffs do not stand a chance haha. I purchased the Muzzy bowfishing kit, and have been really happy with it after a year of use. Comes with a reel, reel seat, arrow, line and rest.

I was worried about that, but with how fast the scan mode is, I feel more confident with this than I did with my Leica CRF. I always ranged multiple times with the CRF to confirm I was actually hitting the target I intended to with the laser. With the Sig, the scan mode is so insanely fast, that I always range in scan mode to make absolute positive I am hitting the target.

It appears they are SPF, if not, I will pm you. Thanks guys.

Savinglots.com has the best price at $415 and some change. I know of many people on Rokslide that purchased thru here and all received their rangefinder in a timely manner. They are currently out of stock, but a buddy who ordered one when they were out of stock received his in less than 2 weeks. I think you can call them and check the lead times

Recipes needed - Traeger wood pellet smoker
HuntHarder replied to bigorange's topic in Cooking Wild Foods
You do not want that piece of junk for free.. Give me the #, I could use another one to take on camping trips. In all seriousness, your grilling will never be the same again. Unreal, how good the food is that leaves a traeger. -
I have had one for a few months, and I have been really impressed. So far, the only negative I have is the blueish/greenish tint to the optics. The sharpness and clarity of the glass is great. The ranging is better than any previous rangefinders I have owned. I have ranged freeway exit signs at 2839 yards away. The scan mode is insanely fast, and non-reflective ranging has been very consistant at 1k yards. Only time will tell how it's durability will stand up, but as of right now, this thing is an absolute winner in my books.
