  1. A buddy of mine used the 300wsm federal trophy copper's on a buffalo a couple years back, and he had great results.

    12 a archery question

When the tags were unlimited, I would guess 70% of the hunters seem to road hunt. One year, we would watch the same group of guys drive down the road atleast 10 times. It was the road we camped on, so we would see them whenever we were in camp. They had a love seat in the back of the truck, and 2 guys sat in the back with arrows knocked. It was one of the funniest things I have seen up there. Side note, we saw some absolute dandy bucks from the road up there and one year one of those dandy bucks was remote controlled and I'm sure he filled his quota. haha

    Dear max point holders,........

Bottom line is 80% of the tags go to non-max point holders. Keep applying and when/if it happens, it happens.

    Anyone use one?

I have a few different ones, but usually use my Tarrantula brand version. I like it because it is a quick release on and off and it is easy to switch from my pack belt to my actual belt if I decide to drop my pack or use a different pack for the stock.

Does anyone know if Colorado and Utah have similar draw systems as we do? They have had the free tag surrender for a few years now, and If it is like you guys say it will be, I am looking for a guy to piggy back on. I searched online, but can not find any "points for sale"

    36a?

I hunted it for the first time last year. We went 3 for 3 and never saw an illegal. I did see evidence they were there, but never laid eyes on them. As far as quality of deer, we killed both of the bigger bucks we saw. Lots of deer, just not very many mature bucks. I am looking forward to hunting it again this year in hopes of exploring more area. We did not even scratch the surface of checking out the areas I wanted to. There were a TON of hunters, but we managed to escape the crowds pretty easily.

    New Kuiu

I too am in need of a puffy. I have been eyeballing the Kenai for a while now. I'm a fanboy too. haha Comfort is king while hunting, and often makes a guy's mind up on when to return back to camp and when to stay on the hills.

    Using horses

This happens quite a bit in 19A. Works very well as the antelope are used to cattle and horses being around them.

Good Tag? 7 East Peaks Hunt Area 10/21-10/27 Any Elk..

I do not think this is anywhere near the worst rifle bull tag in the state. There are lots of elk and some great bulls to be had. As Desertbull pointed out, it is not only the peaks but lots of flat ground as well. Look at a map and you will soon see just how big this area really is. The elk hold pretty tight in the thicker stuff, but there are lots of great bedding areas to hunt.

Safety concerns on unit 10 deer hunt

That is a little concearning. I know this was in response to more guys wanting to give the youth atleast 2 weekends to hunt during their hunt.

Don't forget about your points. If you want a unit 1 archery bull tag, it is going to take 12 points to be gurenteed a tag. So between you and your family member, you are going to have to average out to 12. Your scenario works out best if your family member has 22 and you have 2.

Gonna be an expensive tag, by the time they accumulate enough points for a premium tag, you could have went out of state.

You can only do it once, so make sure that's the friend you want to help!

Great idea! Sometimes circumstances arise where this can benefit us. I'm not worried about people abusing it. You can only do it once. If you get your daughter a great tag, good on you.

    2008 Tacoma Head Replacement

When I was younger and had a Toyota Tacoma, I blew my head gasket twice. Just as you described, the thermostat stuck on the first time and never showed overheating until it was too late. I had a local shop mill the head, and replace all the gaskets, I think it set me back $1900.00. On the second one, I decided to put in a new/used motor, and it was about the same price, maybe slightly more. There were recalls on the early Tacoma's regarding their head gaskets being defective, but mine was not one of them.

    .270 wsm and 140 accubonds

I too am interested in some powders for my 270wsm flinging the 140's. Magpro has caught my eye because of the velocity produced, as well as Nosler data indicating it being their most accurate powder tested with a 140 AB. Have any of you guys shot Magpro to determine how temperature sensitive it is? I usually stick to Hodgdon's "extreme" line of powders to minimize fps variation here in Az. Does anyone have any experience with Magpro?

    Help With 2" Hitch Receiver

Same deal with my Ram 2500. The adapter sleeve is very loose fitting. Every bump, you can feel and hear the play. I remove the sleeve if I am not towing.

    Sig k2000 LRF

I have had mine since December, and so far, I am pretty impressed. I sold my Leica CRF 1200 and do not feel like I am giving anything up. The optics are not quite as nice, but the ranging is far superior. The scan mode is insanely fast, and the readouts have been beyond 2500 yards. The optics are the only negative so far, but they are still better than most rangefinders. The glass is very crisp and clear, just has a slight greenish/ blue hue to it.
